Playboi Carti Teases the Release of I Am Music After Push from Kai Cenat

Playboi Carti fans might finally be getting the album they’ve been waiting for, and it’s all thanks to streaming star Kai Cenat.

On Tuesday (February 4), Carti took to Instagram to credit Cenat with inspiring him to drop his long-awaited third studio album, I Am Music. The Atlanta rapper reposted a video of Kai passionately calling for Carti to release the project during a red-carpet interview at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

When asked by Access Hollywood what was missing from music in 2025, Cenat replied: “The Playboi Carti album. He needs to drop, for real. Carti gotta drop. I know Carti gon’ see this. Carti, just drop! I’m on national TV. Drop, gang! You feel what I’m saying? So yeah, that’s what we missing. In my world, a lot of people need that, so we need to make sure that happens.”

Carti responded on Instagram with: “REALEST VIDEO I SEEN IN 2025… BX YAL GOT 1 WITH KAI. DIS VIDEO MIGHT BE DA ONE TO DO IT.”

Fans’ Frustration Over I Am Music
Playboi Carti first hinted at the release of I Am Music in 2023, and fans had high hopes that the album would arrive before the end of 2024. He even premiered several new songs during his Rolling Loud Miami set in December. However, no official release date has materialized, leaving fans increasingly frustrated.

In response to the delays, some fans launched an online petition demanding accountability from the rapper. The petition, which has garnered nearly 9,000 signatures, calls for Carti to be banned from streaming platforms until he releases the promised album.

The petition reads: “Playboi Carti has consistently deceived and disappointed his loyal fanbase by making empty promises about album releases. Most recently, on December 14, 2023, he assured fans that a new album would drop in 2024. Since then, instead of delivering on his word, he has only shared snippets, released random tracks on YouTube and Instagram, and failed to provide the album he promised.”

Will I Am Music Finally Drop?
Despite the backlash, Carti seems energized by Kai Cenat’s public support. The Whole Lotta Red rapper hinted that Cenat’s enthusiasm might be the push he needs to finally release I Am Music.

Whether the album will drop soon remains to be seen, but fans are hopeful that the Kai effect will break the cycle of delays. If the project lives up to the hype, I Am Music could be one of the biggest releases of 2025, solidifying Playboi Carti’s spot as one of hip-hop’s most enigmatic and influential stars.

For now, the ball is in Carti’s court — and his fans are watching closely.
