Kendrick Lamar’s Outfit at the 2025 Grammy Awards Sparks Trolling Rumors Towards Drake

At the 2025 Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles on February 2, Kendrick Lamar’s outfit quickly became a topic of discussion on social media, with fans speculating that it was a deliberate jab at his long-time rival, Drake. Lamar appeared on stage wearing a denim jacket and matching jeans, complemented by a cap, black shoes, and a diamond-encrusted Jesus piece chain. While the outfit may seem simple at first glance, it was the all-denim look that caught attention – commonly known as the “Canadian tuxedo.”

For many, the outfit’s connection to Drake, who hails from Canada, was unmistakable. The playful nature of the look seemed intentional, especially considering the ongoing tension between the two rap giants. Fans took to social media, expressing their amusement and admiration for Lamar’s apparent trolling. One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Damn this shit is comedy. Kendrick’s trolling is ELITE,” while another commented, “Kendrick winning both Song of the Year and Record of the Year, off a rap beef win, a week ahead of a Super Bowl performance… presented to you by Diana Ross… while wearing a Canadian tuxedo. Idk if we’ll ever witness anything like this ever again lol.”

Even fellow rapper JPEGMAFIA couldn’t help but weigh in, sharing his thoughts on the outfit. He tweeted, “LMFAO Kendrick is funny AF. He accepted his award for the greatest diss song of all time. in a CANADIAN TUXEDO.”

The outfit wasn’t the only thing that made Kendrick’s night memorable. At the ceremony, Lamar won five awards for his song “Not Like Us,” including Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Music Video. This sweep marked a historic night for Kendrick, especially as “Not Like Us” became the first-ever diss track to win a Grammy. Additionally, Kendrick became only the second rapper in history to win both Song of the Year and Record of the Year, following Childish Gambino.

While accepting the Song of the Year award, Lamar took a moment to shout out his West Coast influences, including Glasses Malone, JasonMartin (formerly Problem), and members of Black Hippies, such as Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul. He also reflected on the power of rap, emphasizing the genre’s significance and the need to respect the artform. His speech also included a heartfelt tribute to his late aunt, who passed away just a day before the ceremony, and to the people of Los Angeles, still recovering from wildfires in January.

Adding more fuel to the rivalry with Drake, Kendrick’s wins were met with visible enthusiasm from his peers in the audience. Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and many others were seen dancing and rapping along to “Not Like Us,” further amplifying Kendrick’s triumph.

Looking ahead, Lamar is set to make even more history, as he is scheduled to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show on February 9, becoming the first rapper to headline the event solo. As Kendrick Lamar’s career continues to evolve, his latest Grammy victories, playful digs, and musical achievements reinforce his position as one of the most impactful and influential figures in modern hip-hop.
