Jeannie Mai Calls Police After Dispute with Ex-Husband Jeezy Over Belongings
Jeannie Mai, the former wife of rapper Jeezy, found herself involved in an incident with the Atlanta police after a dispute at Jeezy’s home last month. The disagreement occurred when Mai showed up to collect her personal belongings, but was reportedly denied access by Jeezy’s house manager. According to In Touch, Jeezy had previously placed Mai’s items in boxes after a judge ruled that she had 21 days to retrieve them. However, things took a turn when Mai was unable to gain entry to retrieve her items.
Denied Access and Police Involvement
Mai’s arrival at Jeezy’s Atlanta residence on December 9 was intended to fulfill the court’s order. She had informed her ex-husband in advance of her plans, and he had not objected. However, when she arrived, Jeezy’s house manager refused to allow her access to the garage, where her possessions were stored. Mai, feeling the situation was escalating, called the Atlanta Police Department to report the denial of access.
Court documents obtained by her legal team reveal that Mai’s intention in involving the police was not to create a scene, but to ensure the court order was upheld. “The police were not called to make a scene but instead to report that the court order was being violated,” her lawyers stated.
When the police arrived, they reportedly informed the house manager that the court order was, indeed, being violated. As a result, the house manager, under Jeezy’s direction, then attempted to introduce a new requirement: anyone entering the property to retrieve Mai’s belongings would need to sign a nondisclosure agreement (NDA). Mai’s attorneys point out that there was no mention of such an agreement in the court order.
Damage to Personal Items
In addition to the dispute over access, Mai also claimed that her belongings were damaged while in storage. She stated that many of the boxes containing her items were soaked with water, causing damage to personal items. Furthermore, she alleged that mouse traps had been set in the garage, which likely resulted in further damage to her belongings, including awards that had been broken and scratched.
The Ongoing Divorce Drama
This altercation between Jeezy and Jeannie Mai is just the latest chapter in what has been a tumultuous divorce. The former couple finalized their divorce last summer, but the proceedings have been anything but amicable. Allegations of domestic abuse and custody disputes surrounding their daughter have surfaced throughout their separation.
Jeezy, who had reportedly requested the judge to modify the order regarding Mai’s access to the home, had expressed concerns about his safety. His attorney stated that the rapper did not feel comfortable with Mai having free access to his home, citing a fear that she might plant listening devices or cameras. The tension between the former spouses has been evident in public statements and court filings.
As the legal drama continues to unfold, the incident involving Jeannie Mai, Jeezy, and the Atlanta police only adds more fuel to an already complex situation. While the dispute over Mai’s personal belongings has temporarily settled, the ongoing tension between the two will likely persist. Both sides appear determined to protect their interests, and it remains to be seen how the fallout from this event will affect their relationship moving forward.
