Lil Yachty Reacts to Eminem’s 2018 Diss and Calls It ‘Awesome’

Lil Yachty revealed he was not offended when Eminem mentioned him on the 2018 track The Ringer. During a recent appearance on Tea Time with Raven and Miranda, Yachty described his reaction as “awesome,” explaining that being called out by a legend like Eminem was flattering.
On The Ringer, Eminem rapped: “Do you have any idea how much I hate this choppy flow / Everyone copies though? Probably no… I can see why people like Lil Yachty, but not me though / Not even dissin’, it just ain’t for me. All I am simply is just an MC.” Despite the critical tone, Yachty saw it as recognition. He said, “If you say my name, it’s like, you could’ve said anyone’s name. So, you’re saying my name? I’m like, ‘That’s kinda fire.’”
Fans praised Yachty’s response on social media, noting his maturity and understanding of the context. Some highlighted that Eminem’s lyrics were not a direct diss but rather an acknowledgment of Yachty’s place in a new era of hip-hop. Others pointed out that Eminem had previously included a track featuring Yachty in a hip-hop playlist, suggesting respect rather than disrespect.
Yachty’s appearance comes ahead of the 10-year anniversary of his debut commercial mixtape, Lil Boat. He reflected on his longevity in hip-hop, recalling how critics initially labeled him a one-hit wonder after One Night in 2015. He explained that predictions of his short-lived career shifted over time, saying, “Then it became the average rapper has a lifespan of five years. And now the conversation is, ‘How is he still relevant?'”
Yachty continues to maintain his influence in hip-hop, embracing both his past work and recognition from iconic figures like Eminem while staying relevant in the evolving music landscape.
