Blueface Explains Why His Drake Collaboration Never Happened

Blueface recently discussed why his long-anticipated collaboration with Drake never materialized during an interview with VladTV. He emphasized that neither party was to blame and suggested circumstances played a key role. He also speculated that Drake may have been more interested in signing him at the time.
“Maybe who I was behind or working with, he wasn’t vibing with,” Blueface said. “I wouldn’t necessarily say it was because of me or him. It was just because of circumstances. At this time, if I were to guess, I would say he was probably more interested in signing me. Once he seen that I signed and all this stuff…”
Blueface also reflected on the timing of his rise in popularity. He noted that his collaboration with Cardi B and YG on the remix of his hit single, “Thotiana,” may have shifted dynamics. “She went crazy,” Blueface said of Cardi B’s feature. “That feature changed my life honestly.”
During his breakout in 2018, Blueface shared social media messages from Drake. The Toronto rapper called him the “next big thing” and praised his track “Dead Locs,” even hinting at a potential collaboration with producer Boi1da. Despite the early excitement, the collaboration never came to fruition.
Blueface’s VladTV interview follows his release from prison earlier this month. Since then, he has drawn attention for his personal life, including accusations against Chrisean Rock involving Offset and a public relationship with Hazel-E. The pair were spotted at Memehouse Productions in Los Angeles on November 7 and later at TAO in Hollywood.
The discussion sheds light on how timing, industry dynamics, and personal circumstances can influence collaborations, even when major artists express mutual interest.
