Offset Denies Saweetie Rumors Behind Migos Split and Cites Deeper Issues
Rumors linking Offset and Quavo’s falling out to an alleged affair with Saweetie have circulated for years. During a recent appearance on Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, Offset addressed the speculation, insisting the split was caused by deeper issues, not a romantic entanglement.
“No, man. It was a rumor, man. And I feel like it was something deeper than that for the split of me and bro,” Offset explained. “I don’t really want to touch on [it], but it’s something deeper than that. I think that was a thing that–a bug that I heard. I think people were trying to tear my situation down in that situation.”
He added, “We men, so we don’t play those games. We don’t even know how to do that. And so it was just like–that was a weird thing, though. That was kind of crazy.”
Offset’s clarification contrasts with opinions from some industry figures. On One Night with Steiny, rapper 6ix9ine reignited the affair rumors. He suggested that if Offset had been involved with Saweetie, it would classify him as disloyal, or a “rat” in street and hip-hop culture.
“All these rappers are rats,” 6ix9ine said. “I’m not saying these are facts, but this is the rumor. Quavo’s girl was Saweetie, right? They said Offset slept with Saweetie, that’s why the Migos fell out. The game is full of rats. If you sleep with your homie girl, that’s rat material. When you join the streets, you sign up for loyalty, right?”
He further questioned the group dynamics, asking why Takeoff and Quavo were riding solo for long stretches and implying Offset’s actions may have contributed to the split.
Despite outside speculation, Offset maintains that his friendship with Quavo ended due to internal issues, not romantic interference. The comments offer fans a glimpse into the personal and professional tensions that led to the Migos breakup, while also highlighting how quickly rumors can shape public perception in hip-hop.
