Myka 9 Returns with Blu and Mono En Stereo for New Album “God Takes Care of Babies & Fools”

Los Angeles underground rap veteran Myka 9 has returned with a new collaborative album, God Takes Care of Babies & Fools. Known for his work with Freestyle Fellowship, Haiku d’Etat, and Project Blowed, Myka continues to cement his legacy as one of the most innovative voices in West Coast hip-hop.

The 14-track project was created alongside rapper Blu and producer Mono En Stereo. It features a powerhouse lineup of guests including Abstract Rude, Self Jupiter, Medusa, and Ellay Khule. Members of The Pharcyde, Imani, Slimkid3, and Fatlip, also appear, along with A-F-R-O, Exile, and Planet Asia.

Blu described the album as a deeply spiritual and lyrically rich body of work. “This is another very special album that I am proud to present to the world,” he said. “Myka 9 is one of my highest inspirations and the leading king of the Los Angeles underground. The album is driven by raw lyricism and spiritual rap acrobatics. Mono En Stereo gave us the perfect canvas for this museum of sound.”

He explained the album’s title, God Takes Care of Babies & Fools, as a reflection on divine guidance. “God looks out for everyone, especially those who need him the most. And as Socrates said, ‘To know is to know you know nothing,’ meaning we are all fools compared to the Creator.”

Tracks like “B-Boys” and “Growing Up in L.A.” take listeners back to the golden era of West Coast hip-hop, evoking the energy of the Good Life Café scene of the 1990s. That was the birthplace of legendary acts like Freestyle Fellowship, Jurassic 5, and 2Mex.

For Myka 9, the project offered both creative satisfaction and personal healing. “It was an honor to work with Blu and Mono En Stereo,” he said. “The concepts, production, and visuals came together naturally. There’s a lot of emotional release in this record, and it carries a dynamic range in both tone and message.”

Myka added that the album title resonates with his own journey. “At times I’ve felt like a baby in this art world, learning from my mistakes and still trying to grow. During those times, I truly believe God takes care of babies and fools.”

God Takes Care of Babies & Fools showcases Myka 9’s unmatched lyrical ability and his commitment to pushing the boundaries of hip-hop. The chemistry with Blu and Mono En Stereo creates a sound that is soulful, reflective, and deeply rooted in Los Angeles culture.

Myka 9 and Blu will tour in support of the album starting October 10, bringing the project’s message of reflection, growth, and resilience to live audiences across the country.
