Nicki Minaj Shuts Down Rumors About Her Sexuality Following Viral Closet Photo

Nicki Minaj has firmly denied speculation that she recently came out as gay after a photo from her Vogue Italia photoshoot went viral online. The buzz started when fans noticed an image of the rap icon stepping out of a closet, sparking a wave of speculation about her sexuality.
One social media user commented on the picture, saying, “This is more than just a picture, it’s showing Nicki in the closet because she’s DL.” The comment quickly gained traction, prompting Minaj to issue a blunt and immediate response: “No.”
Her reply was widely shared, including by pop culture outlet Pop Crave, which posted a screenshot of the interaction with the caption, “Nicki Minaj reacts to a fan speculating that a photo of her in a closet signified her being secretly gay: ‘No.’”
This isn’t the first time Nicki has addressed questions about her sexuality. Early in her career, she acknowledged the rumors, telling reporters back in 2010, “I think girls are sexy. But I’m not going to lie and say that I date girls.” At the time, her openness led to continued public curiosity, but she has consistently maintained her truth.
Minaj is currently married to Kenneth Petty, and the couple celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary last October. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Nicki reflected on their long history together, writing: “24 years after we first met. Love at first sight. I’m so proud of you. Thank you for catching me… every single time. Thank you for our little BFF. Dear Ken, Happy 5th Anniversary, Love, Barbie. 10.20.”
The pair originally met as teenagers in Queens and reconnected in 2018, shortly after Minaj’s split from Meek Mill. They tied the knot in 2019 and welcomed their first child together the following year.
Despite their strong family presence, Petty’s past has continued to draw public scrutiny. Earlier this year, his updated sex offender registry photo went viral after surfacing on social media. The image was pulled from California’s Megan’s Law website, which lists Petty’s 1995 conviction for attempted rape. He served four years in prison for the offense and was later sentenced to probation and house detention in 2022 after failing to register as a sex offender when he moved to California with Minaj.
Petty and Minaj have also faced allegations of harassment from Jennifer Hough, the victim in his 1995 case, who has accused the couple of attempting to intimidate her into silence.
Even with these controversies, Minaj remains one of the most influential figures in music. While fans are always quick to speculate, she has once again made it clear that she controls her own narrative.
