Joey Bada$$ Prepares for “Lonely at the Top” and Eyes Future Producer Collabs

Joey Bada$$ is back with his next album, Lonely at the Top, after delays from Columbia Records. The Brooklyn rapper is focused on the release, but he’s already looking ahead to his next project. In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, the Pro Era founder revealed he’s open to working with a single producer for a future project.

During the conversation, Charlamagne tha God suggested several legendary beatmakers for Joey, including Havoc of Mobb Deep, Pete Rock, and DJ Premier. Charlamagne emphasized 90s New York-style production, noting that it would be a perfect backdrop for Joey’s lyrical style. Joey expressed interest in the idea, highlighting that he could see creating a full project with just one of these producers.

Joey also mentioned ongoing collaborations with Statik Selektah, who is set to produce parts of Lonely at the Top. He expressed a strong desire to work with The Alchemist, saying, “I would love to do a project with Alchemist.” Joey has previously built material with Pete Rock, dating back to 2012, and continues to hold onto unreleased tracks from those sessions. He has also been discussing potential work with Havoc, reinforcing his interest in deepening connections with iconic New York producers.

Fans can expect Lonely at the Top to arrive on August 29. The album follows Joey’s 2022 release, 2000, and marks his first project under Columbia since then. Two singles have already been released to build anticipation: “ABK” and “DARK AURA,” which dropped on August 18.

Joey’s vision of working closely with one producer mirrors recent trends in hip-hop, where focused collaborations often result in cohesive, hard-hitting projects. While Lonely at the Top will deliver his latest work, listeners can look forward to potential future projects featuring some of hip-hop’s most celebrated producers.
