Drake Endorses BigXThaPlug Ahead of Upcoming Album Release

Drake gave a nod to BigXThaPlug on his Instagram Story by sharing the rapper’s announcement for his new album, I Hope You’re Happy, accompanied by a Texas state emoji. The album is set to drop on Friday, August 22, and will feature 11 tracks with collaborations from Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Shaboozey, Darius Rucker, Bailey Zimmerman, Ella Langley, Ink, Tucker Wetmore, and Thomas Rhett.
The shoutout quickly caught attention when DJ Akademiks reposted Drake’s story on Instagram. Fans reacted with mixed opinions. One commented, “He got Drake co-sign, he good. Drake don’t do nothing but add value to yo career.” Others were critical of Drake, suggesting he uses rising artists to maintain relevance, while another fan defended him, noting that criticism follows Drake regardless of his actions.
BigXThaPlug recently praised Drake during an appearance on The New York Times’ Popcast podcast, reflecting on seeing the rapper perform at Wireless Festival and highlighting the effort Drake puts into his shows.
Drake is also preparing to release his own album, Iceman. While he has been promoting the project for months, no official release date has been confirmed. Over the weekend, Texas A&M legend Johnny Manziel hinted at a potential release in October or November.
Drake shared an update on Instagram last week, writing, “Still coming to terms and conditions with how I’m feeling. Soon as I know, you’ll hear it.” The rapper has already released lead singles, including “What Did I Miss?” on July 5 and a collaboration with Central Cee titled “Which One” on July 25.
The endorsement of BigXThaPlug highlights Drake’s influence in the music industry, while fans await the arrival of both his and BigXThaPlug’s upcoming projects.
