Meek Mill Seeks $5 Million to Fund Album, Book and Short Film

Meek Mill has revealed ambitious plans for his career, but he says he needs financial support to make them a reality. The Philadelphia-born rapper recently took to X to share that he wants to release a new album, write a book, and produce a short film, estimating that the projects will require $5 million in funding.

“I need 5m in funding for book.. album and short film,” Meek Mill wrote. He added that traditional label deals do not offer fair terms, claiming they have “ruined the game.” He suggested that with proper backing, he could “reboot the whole thing” and questioned why music ventures do not receive the same attention as tech investments.

In a follow-up post, Meek shared a clip from a discussion on DeDe In The Morning about the influence of African American culture in the United States. “Why as music artist that’s independent we not dealing with banks when everything surround us in music business lead us back to the banks anyway!” he wrote. He added that independent artists should have total control over their projects and asked whether securing funding outside of record labels in America is possible, noting the process seems difficult.

Meek Mill reiterated his need for $5 million in another post, stating, “Im blackballed if I can’t get 5m in funding for album book and short film lol.” His comments have sparked reactions on social media, with some fans questioning why he is struggling to raise the money.

“Surrounded by billionaires. I’m so confused,” one Instagram user commented. Another noted, “Son was charging 50k for club appearances, you should have it.” Others highlighted his connections to high-profile figures, asking why someone who recently met with billionaires Michael Rubin and Robert Kraft does not have easier access to funding.

Meek Mill’s appeal highlights the challenges independent artists face in financing creative projects, even for performers with established careers and industry connections.
