The Game Sparks Debate With Bold West Coast Rapper Rankings

The Game is no stranger to stirring up controversy, and his latest move is no exception. The Compton-born rapper recently shared his personal list of the top 100 greatest West Coast rappers of all time, and fans are buzzing over some of his bold and unexpected rankings.
Perhaps the most surprising placement on the list was Kendrick Lamar at number four. While many consider Kendrick to be one of the most lyrically gifted and critically acclaimed artists of his generation, The Game opted to place him below 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, and Ice Cube. Rounding out his top five, Game placed himself just behind Kendrick—a move that quickly drew attention online.
In the rest of his top 10, The Game included West Coast staples like Kurupt, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, and Xzibit. However, things got even more interesting as the list continued. Tyler, The Creator landed at number 14, while will.i.am was placed above respected lyricists such as Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, and W.C. Even more controversial was Kid Ink’s placement ahead of artists like Earl Sweatshirt and Glasses Malone, raising eyebrows among hip-hop purists and fans alike.
The list arrives during a turbulent time for The Game. He’s recently been in the headlines for a legal battle that led to the forced sale of his Calabasas mansion. The decision came after he was ordered to pay $7 million to Priscilla Rainey, a woman who accused him of sexual assault during the filming of his VH1 dating show She’s Got Game. Game had refused to appear in court, resulting in a default judgment issued in 2016.
Despite his efforts to shield the property by claiming it was owned by a company called JTT Holdings, the court determined the entity was a shell corporation and authorized the sale. The mansion is now on the market for $4 million—well below the judgment amount.
The Game has also made headlines for a falling out with Kanye West, despite having supported the Chicago rapper through multiple controversies over the years. According to reports, Kanye felt betrayed after Game was seen associating with Toronto rapper Top5, who had previously made threats against him.
In response, The Game fired back on Instagram with a heated post, saying, “F*** you and yo Maybachs little [ninja emoji]. I’ll be back in LA in a week, come and get em yo self!!! I ain’t never asked yo weird a%% for nothing & when you gave me the cars, I said you ain’t have to & I was good but you insisted.”
Even amid personal and legal drama, The Game continues to insert himself into the cultural conversation, proving once again that he knows how to keep people talking—whether through music, controversy, or his take on hip-hop history.
