Pusha T Drops Bombshells on Kanye, Travis Scott, and Def Jam During Clipse’s Let God Sort Em Out Rollout

As the Clipse prepare to drop their highly anticipated reunion album Let God Sort Em Out on July 11, Pusha T has been stirring up major buzz with a series of bold revelations and pointed disses that are fueling excitement around the project.

On the lead single, Ace Trumpets, Pusha didn’t hold back in taking aim at Kanye West, mercilessly taunting the former collaborator over the current state of his career. The Virginia MC doubled down on this disdain during a candid GQ interview, making it clear his beef with Kanye is far from over.

But Kanye isn’t the only target. Last week, Clipse released a teaser for their second single, So Be It, which introduces a fresh angle in Pusha’s ongoing discontent—this time aimed squarely at Travis Scott. Pusha unleashed criticism over Scott’s perceived lack of loyalty, especially regarding Pharrell Williams, a close confidant of Pusha’s. In the follow-up GQ piece accompanying the single’s release, Pusha elaborated on why Scott’s behavior rubbed him the wrong way, providing fans with deeper context behind the feud.

Beyond these rapper rivalries, the rollout has also been marked by the group’s fallout with their former label, Def Jam. In the explosive GQ interview, Pusha T revealed just how challenging it was to get Let God Sort Em Out approved, citing issues surrounding Kendrick Lamar’s verse on the album’s Chains & Whips track.

While specifics were initially vague, Pusha hinted that the controversy stemmed from the collaboration between Kendrick Lamar and Clipse—two artists known as rivals to Drake—especially in the wake of Lamar’s 2024 battle with the Canadian superstar. According to Pusha, Def Jam pressured them to censor Kendrick’s verse and eventually demanded the track be removed entirely. When they refused, the label threatened to drop the group, though Pusha remained signed as a solo artist.

Speaking to The New York Times more recently, Pusha maintained his stance on the dispute, attributing Def Jam’s objections primarily to “optics.” When asked if a particular lyric had sparked the issue, he clarified that it was actually unrelated to Drake. Instead, the label fixated on a line containing the phrase “trump card,” expressing concerns over potential political backlash related to Donald Trump. Pusha dismissed this as “so stupid,” explaining it was merely an excuse to stall the track’s release.

Despite the hurdles, Kendrick Lamar’s verse has ultimately remained on the album. Pusha’s management revealed that Clipse paid a hefty seven-figure sum to buy out their contract with Def Jam to preserve their artistic vision.

With Let God Sort Em Out slated to arrive on July 11, fans are eagerly awaiting the full project—one that’s already ignited conversations thanks to Pusha T’s fearless candor and high-profile feuds. The album promises not only a musical reunion but also a candid glimpse into the battles and politics behind the scenes in today’s hip hop industry.
