Jim Jones Claims He’s a Better Rapper Than Nas, Takes Shots at Clipse and Pusha T

Jim Jones isn’t holding back this year. In a recent candid interview on the Joe & Jada Podcast, the Harlem rapper boldly declared himself superior to hip-hop legend Nas, sparking fresh debate among rap fans and critics alike.
Jones said:
“I was a superior Nas fan but when you get into the game you realize your idols be rivals. My son can’t tell me one Nas record. I got a hell of a catalog. Me, Jim Jones, myself, gold records, platinum records, no Diplomats, nobody else, me, Jim Jones.”
He challenged listeners to compare their careers and chart success:
“Check my track record, then check everybody else track record. Then go to Billboard and check all my entries then check all them n-ggas entries. I been spanking a lot of this shit. Pull up Nas’ Billboard entries, then pull up my Billboard entries.”
Backing his claims with 2025 data, Jones insists his catalog and Billboard presence currently outshine Nas’s, saying,
“Let’s keep it a buck, I’m spanking everybody with my catalog even without Dipset, pull up my Billboard entries then pull up Nas Billboard entries right now in 2025. I gotta be honest no disrespect.”
The bold statements have reignited conversations on social media about Jones’s place in the rap pantheon versus Nas’s legendary status.
But Jones didn’t stop there. Speaking to Bootleg Kev at the BET Awards, he dismissed Virginia duo Clipse’s new track “Ace Trumpets,” showing there’s no love lost between him and the Clipse camp.
“What’s so great about it? It’s good in what? The nostalgic value of it? I don’t believe it. I don’t believe it, I don’t believe them,” Jones said.
He added:
“But that’s a whole other story and I don’t wanna downplay nobody’s craft… but I don’t listen to their music and never have. I don’t recall too many records that I can remember.”
Jim Jones has also repeatedly taken shots at Pusha T over the years. After Pusha’s appearance on a top rappers of all time list, Jones questioned his credentials:
“What has he done that puts him in the greatest rappers of all time? Besides talk about cocaine that he probably didn’t get himself. He could rap his ass off but what has he done? Nobody has dressed like him. Nobody want to be like Pusha T. I don’t remember nothing.”
The back-and-forth heated up when Pusha T fired back with a diss track premiered at Louis Vuitton’s 2023 fashion show, with lyrics aimed squarely at Jones (also known as Capo):
“Beware of my name, that there’s delegate / You know I know where you’re delicate / Crush you to pieces, I’ll hum a breath of it / I will close your heaven for the hell of it / You think it’d be valor amongst veterans / I’m watching your fame escape relevance / We all in a room but here’s the elephant / You chasing a feature out of your element.”
As Jim Jones continues to assert himself with bold claims and sharp critiques, the hip-hop world watches closely. Whether you’re Team Nas or Team Capo, one thing’s clear: Jim Jones is stirring the pot in 2025, unapologetically confident and ready to take on anyone who questions his legacy.
