DJ Akademiks Claims Drake Sent “Mob Boss” Style Threats to Kendrick Lamar’s Team During Heated Beef

DJ Akademiks has stirred the pot once again in the ongoing saga between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, revealing on a recent livestream that the Toronto rapper allegedly sent voice messages to Kendrick’s camp during the peak of their highly publicized beef. According to Akademiks, the threatening messages came off like something out of a mafia movie.

Speaking to his audience, the controversial media personality said he recently had a conversation with someone close to Kendrick who shared details about the behind-the-scenes tension. “You should’ve heard this n***a Drake. What he was saying to us before we whipped his ass. This is what he told me,” Akademiks began. He added that while Drake has always maintained that he never communicated directly with Kendrick, the same can’t be said about his inner circle.

Akademiks claimed that Anthony Saleh—Kendrick’s longtime manager—told him that Drake had indeed reached out with some intense voice notes. “Drake was sending voicenotes talking crazy, like he’s a mob boss,” Saleh allegedly said. The messages reportedly included statements like, “I’m gonna done you,” and, “You n****s is washed. You guys think you can finish ME?!?”

According to the unnamed source, Drake went silent after Kendrick dropped “Not Like Us,” which many fans and critics dubbed a knockout blow in their lyrical war. “That was the bomb,” the team member allegedly said, suggesting the track completely shifted the energy in the feud.

As the clip of Akademiks’ comments made the rounds on social media, fans had no shortage of reactions. Many mocked the idea of Drake issuing threats, especially given his recent federal lawsuit against Universal Music Group over defamation claims. “Drake, the same fake mob boss that filed the federal lawsuit?” one X user wrote. Another chimed in: “Imagine talking that spicy and then suing the label for not censoring the response.”

The revelation comes amid swirling speculation about Drake’s next album, rumored to be titled Iceman. The rapper recently used the word as a caption for several Instagram posts, further fueling the theory. He previously confirmed he was working on a new solo project during a stream with Adin Ross, thanking fans for supporting his last project, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U. “Working on a new album, it’s a slap,” Drake said at the time.

Adding to the buzz, Adin Ross revealed earlier this month that the project is reportedly complete. “The new album is going to be amazing,” Ross said during a livestream. “I think it’s a very, very, very important album for Drake’s career… that s**t tough.”

Whether Iceman will feature more subliminals or serve as a reset after his lyrical clash with Kendrick remains to be seen. But as DJ Akademiks’ latest claims show, the story behind their feud may still have layers waiting to be peeled back.
