Halle Bailey Granted Restraining Order Against DDG After Allegations of Abuse

Singer and actress Halle Bailey has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, rapper and YouTuber DDG, following serious allegations of abuse during their relationship. A Los Angeles judge approved the order after Bailey said she feared for her safety and that of their one-year-old son, Halo.

According to court documents filed earlier this month, Bailey described a troubling pattern of behavior by DDG that she claims started during their time together and continued after their breakup. “Throughout our relationship, Darryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me,” she wrote. “I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse.”

One of the most alarming incidents detailed in her filing occurred in January, when Bailey said a disagreement turned violent while she was securing Halo into a car seat. “The next thing I knew, things got physical between us. We fought each other, wrestling and tussling. At one point, Darryl was pulling my hair. He then slammed my face on the steering wheel, causing my tooth to get chipped. I then stopped fighting back as I was in a lot of pain.” She included photos in the court filing that she claims show the injuries she sustained.

Bailey also alleged that in March, DDG became verbally aggressive when she refused to send their son to him while the child was sick. During the incident, she says he damaged her Ring doorbell after realizing it had recorded their confrontation. Bailey filed a police report following the altercation.

In addition to the physical and verbal confrontations, Bailey said DDG has continued to harass her through his online presence. She accused him of speaking negatively about her during livestreams to his large following, saying, “Whenever he wishes to cause upset, he starts bad mouthing me to his several millions of fans. He claims I am withholding our son and that I am with other men. As a result, I then receive threats and hate on social media.”

Under the terms of the temporary restraining order, DDG is barred from going near Bailey or their son and is prohibited from possessing any weapons. A court hearing is scheduled for next month, where a judge will decide whether to extend the order for up to five years or dismiss it altogether.

DDG has not yet responded publicly to the allegations or the restraining order.
