Drake Working on Highly-Anticipated New Album During Nokia Video Shoot, Says Smiley

Drake is seemingly always in the studio, but it seems his creative process has reached new heights as he works tirelessly on his next album. According to OVO artist Smiley, the Canadian rap superstar has been in an intense creative mode, working on his highly-anticipated new project even in between takes during the shoot for his “Nokia” music video.

Smiley shared the behind-the-scenes details in a recent live stream, revealing that Drake’s dedication to his craft is relentless. “Even at the ‘Nokia’ video shoot, during a break, he had a bunch of producers and he was just recording. He’s in that crazy mode right now,” Smiley said, underscoring just how focused the rapper is on making his next album one to remember.

The creative process appears to be all-consuming for Drake at the moment. Smiley also recalled an instance at a recent party where Drake disappeared into another room to work on his music instead of joining the festivities. “We’re at a party and he was in the other room by himself eating pasta with wired headphones writing music while we have a whole fucking party going on. He’s on a different mode right now,” Smiley explained. This moment encapsulates the dedication Drake has to his craft, even in the midst of social events.

Drake Confirms New Solo Album in the Works

On top of the behind-the-scenes revelations from Smiley, Drake also confirmed on a recent stream with popular influencer Adin Ross that he is, indeed, working on a new album. When asked about his music, Drake shared, “Working on a new album right now,” before teasing fans that it will be a solo project. “It’s a slap,” he added, leaving fans eagerly anticipating what he has in store.

With the announcement of his album, Drake fans are already speculating about the direction the artist will take this time around. Given his recent forays into different genres and the varied styles across his previous projects, the new album is expected to be yet another evolution of his sound.

Drake Faces Legal Battles Amidst Creative Focus

While Drake’s focus remains on his music, it’s not all smooth sailing in the other aspects of his life. The rapper is currently in the midst of a lawsuit against his record label, Universal Music Group (UMG), which he claims has defamed him through the release of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss track.

In his amended lawsuit, Drake points to Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl performance in February as evidence of defamation, specifically the rapper’s decision to self-censor the word “pedophile” in his performance. According to Drake, this performance further solidifies his case against UMG.

Universal quickly fired back at Drake’s updated filing, warning him that his “win” from a previous legal motion could turn into a loss if he continues with what they’ve called a “frivolous” lawsuit. In a statement, UMG threatened that Drake would soon find himself personally subject to discovery as well.

Drake’s spokesperson responded, saying, “Drake welcomes discovery and has nothing to hide. It’s not Drake who should worry; it’s UMG’s current leadership. We look forward to hearing from Lucian Grainge, John Janick, and UMG employees under oath.”

Despite the ongoing legal drama, Drake’s musical journey remains the main focus, and his fans are eagerly awaiting what could be his most impactful album yet. With a new project in the works and a slew of controversies in the rearview, it’s clear that Drake is gearing up for another dominant year in the music world.

As for Nokia and his new album, fans can expect more updates as Drake continues to work in overdrive, promising more hits and a deeper dive into his musical genius.
