Drake Embraces Gambling Habit in Hilarious Instagram Video, Says It’s All for His People

Drake’s gambling losses may be legendary at this point, but that’s not stopping him from doubling down—literally and figuratively. In a viral Instagram video shared this week, the Canadian superstar leaned into the growing chatter about his betting habits with a tongue-in-cheek response that shows he’s well aware of the narrative surrounding his Stake sponsorship and lavish wagers.

The Toronto native began the clip by addressing the elephant in the room. Speaking directly to the camera, he said, “People keep saying enough with the Stake posts… What are you? Some sort of gambling addict? Am I a gambling addict?” Cue the punchline.

As a montage of flashy visuals plays over the screen—Ferraris, luxury trips, gift-giving moments—Drake provides a mock-serious voiceover that makes light of the criticism. “Yeah, I’m addicted to being signed to the biggest gambling company in the world, literally stacking free rackades, watching my fcking right hand man skrt off in a Ferrari F12,” he says. “You’re right. I’m absolutely addicted to blessing my family and friends, pulling up with a Steph Curry pack, a 30 clip to a bus station and giving it somebody who’s probably been working a fcking 80-hour work week.”

The clip ends with a signature Drake flourish, offering a shout-out to “all the healthcare workers and single moms,” before sarcastically admitting to his addiction. “Yeah, I’m fcking addicted for sure. I’m addicted to running it up until I’m the fcking president of Canada. We don’t even have a president, so you do the math on that one you testa di cazzo.”

The post quickly drew reactions from across the industry, with artists like Offset, Gordo, Big Sean, Snowd4y, and producer BNYX lighting up the comments with flames and laughing emojis. But beyond the jokes, there’s an undercurrent of real strategy behind Drake’s gambling habits—he’s getting paid.

In 2022, Drake signed a headline-grabbing deal with crypto-based sports betting platform Stake. Reports at the time suggested the agreement was worth $100 million annually, though DJ Akademiks later claimed the figure may actually be closer to $180 million. With that kind of money coming in, the rapper’s frequent high-stakes bets start to look more like business decisions than reckless fun.

Still, critics have continued to raise concerns about Drake glamorizing gambling, especially after Kendrick Lamar called out his alleged vices on the scathing diss track “meet the grahams.” On that song, Kendrick rapped: “You got gamblin’ problems, drinkin’ problems, pill-poppin’ and spendin’ problems / Bad with money, wh*rehouse / Solicitin’ women problems.” Many fans now view Drake’s recent post as a subtle clapback to that line—turning perceived flaws into flexes.

Despite what some may call a curse or a compulsion, Drake doesn’t seem too bothered. His gambling persona has become part of his larger-than-life brand, and with generational wealth, brand deals, and a loyal entourage to support, the “addiction” he’s referring to seems less about roulette wheels and more about running up wins for everyone in his circle.

If this is what being a gambling addict looks like in Drake’s world, it’s clear he’s betting on more than just luck.
