The drama initially sparked from a viral clip of Doechii at the Met Gala. As she was leaving the Mark Hotel in New York City, she snapped at her team, demanding more umbrellas to cover her outfit. “We need another umbrella, now,” Doechii was caught saying in the video, which was quickly picked up by Complex. Her blunt request caused a stir among viewers, leading to further criticism.
In response to the backlash, Doechii took to TikTok to apologize for her behavior, acknowledging the overstimulation of the night. “All jokes aside this was such an overstimulating night but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!” she wrote in her TikTok caption. “This was the night we all dreamed of and my team killed it (umbrellas aside).”
