Earlier this week, legendary rap duo Clipse officially announced the release date for their long-awaited album Let God Sort Em Out. The project — their first full-length studio effort in over a decade — is set to drop on July 11, and if their new single “Ace Trumpets” is any indication, fans are in for a bold, high-caliber return.
Released today, “Ace Trumpets” has already sparked excitement among hip hop heads and fellow artists alike. The track is heavy on lyrical venom and vintage Clipse chemistry, with Pusha T delivering bars that seem to carry more than just braggadocio. “Look at them, him and him, still waiting on Yeezy / I hope you got your squeegee,” he raps over menacing horns. “At your interviews, I just kee kee, life’s peachy.”
The Yeezy reference didn’t go unnoticed. Kanye West, who famously worked with Clipse during the G.O.O.D. Music era, appeared to respond emotionally via X. “I miss me and Pusha’s friendship,” he posted, a brief but poignant statement that reflects the ongoing tension between the two former collaborators.
Pusha T and Ye’s relationship became strained in 2022 after the It’s Almost Dry rapper publicly criticized Kanye for his antisemitic remarks and confirmed he was no longer signed to G.O.O.D. Music. Their fallout marked the end of one of hip hop’s most creatively productive partnerships.
However, in a surprising twist earlier this year, Kanye shared on The Download podcast with Justin LaBoy that the two had spoken recently. “It was good to talk to him. It was the first time talking to him in a couple months,” Kanye said. “We made good music together… But I realize no one owes me anything… If you depend on somebody who is not giving you what you need, you’re the one that’s in the wrong.”
Despite the history, Pusha T is firmly focused on the future. Speaking to GQ earlier this month, he hyped up Let God Sort Em Out as a game-changer. “It’s a whole new chapter,” he said. “This is new, it’s groundbreaking, it’s fresh. This isn’t a reminisce runway. Everything is new – the music, the energy, the competitive spirit. It’s all about what’s next and being what’s next.”
The album, which is now available for pre-order, marks a full-circle moment for Clipse fans. With Pusha T and No Malice reuniting on wax and the energy surrounding “Ace Trumpets” hitting a fever pitch, Let God Sort Em Out is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated hip hop releases of 2025.
Whether or not Kanye West and Pusha T will ever reconnect creatively remains to be seen — but for now, Clipse are reminding everyone why their names still carry weight in the culture.
