AZ Chike Fires Back at Joey Bada$$ With Scathing New Diss Track “What Would You Do?”

The battle between coasts is heating up once again as Los Angeles rapper AZ Chike steps into the ring with a fiery new diss track titled “What Would You Do?”, directly targeting Brooklyn’s Joey Bada$$. The track arrives amid a growing list of responses from West Coast rappers following Joey’s provocative shots at the region earlier this year.

On “What Would You Do?”, AZ Chike wastes no time getting personal. He opens the track by referencing Ray Vaughn’s recent diss, “Hoe Era,” signaling that he’s next to bat in defense of the West. “He keep talkin’ ’bout the wеst, is he strictly dck-ly? / Ray got some, I guess summer goin’ fifty-fifty / Tag me in, time to get a n**a gone / Yeah, you bad to the ass / I’m just bad to the bone,” Chike raps over an ominous beat.

Later in the track, AZ Chike takes a jab at Joey’s songwriting credentials—specifically his co-writing credit on Post Malone’s massive hit, “Rockstar.” Chike mocks Joey’s status as a hip-hop veteran, questioning his impact and authenticity: “How you a pro from your era and still ain’t made a hit song? … F**k that bullsh*t you wrote for Post Malone … And barely that, it wasn’t working, [you] start to act.”

This West Coast vs. East Coast revival began when Joey Bada$$ dropped “The Ruler’s Back” earlier this year. On that track, he took aim at the West, including Kendrick Lamar, with the line: “Too much West Coast dck lickin’ / I’m hearin’ n**s throwin’ rocks, really ain’t sht stickin’,” seemingly referencing Kendrick’s ongoing feud with Drake.

Since then, responses have poured in from West Coast artists like Ray Vaughn, who came through with “Hoe Era,” and battle rapper Daylyt, who also took issue with Joey’s broad attacks. Joey returned fire last week with “The Finals,” where he clowned West Coast defenders, claiming they don’t even have Kendrick’s number: “What kinda Top Dawg is you? / You more Shih Tzu, you was cloned in the lab, dog, you artificial / You known for your label, not because your art official.”

AZ Chike’s involvement adds more fuel to the fire—especially considering his 2024 collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on the track “peekaboo” from Kendrick’s GNX project. While Kendrick has yet to directly address Joey Bada$$’s disses, it’s clear his presence continues to stir strong loyalty among West Coast lyricists.

With tensions rising and lyrical shots flying, fans are now eagerly watching to see whether Joey Bada$$ will respond to AZ Chike—or if Kendrick Lamar will eventually step into the fray himself. One thing’s for sure: the coast-to-coast energy is back, and it’s bringing out some of the fiercest bars of 2025.
