Young Thug is officially back. After months of anticipation following his release from jail in October 2024, the Atlanta rap icon has announced that his comeback will be marked by a new single titled “Money on Money,” featuring none other than longtime collaborator Future.
Set to drop this Friday, April 25, “Money on Money” will be the first official offering from Thugger’s upcoming album Uy Scuti, and his first release as a lead artist since his legal battle made headlines. The announcement has ignited excitement across the hip-hop world, with fans eager to hear the duo rekindle their magnetic chemistry on wax.
Thug first teased Uy Scuti in cryptic fashion earlier this month, simply tweeting: “It’s time. Red Planet” with a link to a mysterious new website. The site, built around the album’s launch, features a range of themed merchandise including vinyl, CDs, and exclusive apparel. While the album doesn’t yet have a confirmed release date, insiders suggest it’s likely to drop in May.
The anticipation is bolstered by earlier comments from Lil Baby, who revealed on Spotify’s A Day in the Life that Thug had originally pushed for a joint project between him and Future while still behind bars.
“Me and Future were working on a joint tape,” Baby explained. “Then Slime came home… he was like, ‘I’m on the tape.’” According to Baby, Thug even came up with the concept and name for the project during his incarceration—suggesting Uy Scuti might have initially been envisioned as a collaborative effort.
Now back in the studio, Young Thug has reportedly been prolific. “Thug is a lab rat,” Baby added. “All he do is stay in the studio. We’ve already made 10 songs together.”
Metro Boomin, who executive produced Thug’s 2023 album Business Is Business, is also involved in the new LP. Earlier this year, he confirmed his involvement via social media, writing: “Back to working on @thuggerthugger1 album.”
While Business Is Business peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, it marked a rare moment where Thug didn’t top the charts. With Uy Scuti and “Money on Money,” the YSL frontman looks primed to reclaim his throne—armed with sharpened bars, a renewed sense of purpose, and the unwavering support of his ATL kin.
With Future by his side and momentum building, Uy Scuti could be the redemption arc Thug’s fans have been waiting for.
