Ab-Soul Teases New Album With Roc Marciano Collaboration

Ab-Soul has released a new collaboration with Roc Marciano, which appears to be part of an upcoming project. The untitled track, produced by Marci, was shared alongside a heartfelt tribute to Soul’s late friend Armon “Doe Burger” Stringer.
A Tribute to Doe Burger
On April 1, the Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) rapper took to Instagram to honor Doe Burger, who passed away in 2021. The new song is dedicated to his memory, with Ab-Soul expressing his deep emotions in a lengthy caption.
“I ain’t gon hold you boss dawg… I was an inch away from just sayin fucc it and pushin the button on this 1,” he wrote. “But, I value your vision and I know you only aspire to present quality art in the most effective way. Especially knowing how personal this is to me.
“I’m sure my emotions are clouding my judgment to some degree, but this piece is truly a matter of the heart. I miss him. It’s imperative that I let the world know the impact my brother left on me and so many others.
“I didn’t do this for views nor to monetize. I did this to honor someone who was undoubtedly ‘none of a kind.’ Armon ‘DOEBURGER’ Stringer. Happy C-Day cuz!!! Love you my n-gga, no molly talk. #LLDB.”
Soul Burger: The Odyssey?
In the same post, Ab-Soul appeared to reveal the title of his next project, Soul Burger: The Odyssey. This has led to speculation that it may be a deluxe edition of Soul Burger, the album he released last year.
He also gave a shoutout to J. Cole for offering valuable insight, writing: “P.S. Preciate the insight Cole. It was much needed. Don’t ever lose that passion bro.”
Ab-Soul’s Frustration Over Soul Burger Reception
When Soul Burger dropped in November 2023, it was met with critical praise but struggled commercially. The album featured guest appearances from Lupe Fiasco, Vince Staples, Doechii, JID, Ty Dolla $ign, Blxst, JasonMartin (formerly known as Problem), and TDE president Terrence “Punch” Henderson. Despite its star-studded lineup, the project failed to chart on the Billboard 200, marking Ab-Soul’s second consecutive album to do so.
Frustrated by the lack of recognition, Soul voiced his disappointment on social media: “THIS MAY BE DISTASTEFUL FOR ME TO SAY ON MY OWN, GIVEN THE INSATIABLE STATE OF SOCIAL MEDIA. BUT, FUCC IT. SOUL BURGER IS A PHENOMENAL BODY OF WORK. I PUT IT ALL ON THE TABLE. STOP PRETENDING TO OVERLOOK ME. ITS UNBECOMING OF THE CULTURE.”
He added: “I WILL BE HEARD. MARK MY WORD. LONG LIVE @DOEBURGER.”
With the potential release of Soul Burger: The Odyssey, Ab-Soul seems determined to continue honoring Doe Burger’s legacy while solidifying his place in hip-hop. Fans are eager to see if this next chapter will finally earn him the recognition he seeks.
