Redman Reveals He and Method Man Don’t Hang Out Off-Stage – But There’s No Love Lost

Redman has revealed that despite his longtime partnership with Method Man, the two don’t spend time together outside of work. The New Jersey rap legend made the revelation during an appearance on the Julian Dorey Podcast, where he made it clear that their relationship is strictly professional when they’re off the road.

When asked if he still hangs out with Method Man, Redman responded with an emphatic “Hell no!” He explained that while they work together frequently, their personal lives are separate. “We do shows and we come back home,” he said. “I don’t hang out with a lot of rappers at all. This is work, this is home. We’re very inclusive with our movement. Once we’re off the road, we’re like, ‘Alright. You got family to deal with, I got shit I gotta do.’”

Despite his legendary status in hip-hop, Redman keeps his circle small and rarely socializes with fellow MCs. “There’s a lot of MCs who I’m connected with. Of course, Wu[-Tang Clan] is my crew or whatever, but there’s a lot of artists that we might chop it up on the phone – but no,” he said. The only artists he regularly spends time with are DoItAll from Lords of the Underground, Treach from Naughty by Nature, and DJ Kid Capri, whom he considers a close friend.

No Blackout! 3 Anytime Soon

While Redman and Method Man remain close professionally, fans hoping for a Blackout! 3 album may have to wait indefinitely. During a conversation on Red Bull Spiral last November, Redman expressed his desire to record a third installment in their beloved Blackout! series. “I want to do a Blackout! 3, maybe like 12 songs,” he said.

However, Method Man shut down the idea, saying his focus is elsewhere. “We are not even focused on no Blackouts! or any of that shit right now,” Meth responded. “Brother, we are focused on this TV and movie stuff and producing as well. We’ve got to get these stories out there.”

The duo’s first Blackout! album was released in 1999 and became a massive success, debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and selling 254,000 copies in its first week. A decade later, Blackout! 2 followed with another top 10 debut. Fans have been eagerly anticipating a third installment ever since, but despite previous teases—including a 2014 claim that Blackout! 3 was coming soon—the project has yet to materialize.

While their personal lives may keep them apart, Redman and Method Man’s professional chemistry remains undeniable. Whether they reunite for new music or continue thriving in separate ventures, their legacy as one of hip-hop’s most iconic duos is firmly cemented.
