Kodak Black Sparks Controversy with Reginae Carter Lyric in New Freestyle

Kodak Black has a history of making questionable comments about women in his music, and his latest freestyle is no exception. The rapper, who has become more notorious for controversies than hit songs in recent years, once again raised eyebrows when he posted a freestyle on Instagram on Monday.

In the video, Kodak kicks things off by name-dropping Reginae Carter, the daughter of rap legend Lil Wayne. The line in question? “Reginae should be my bae, I’m getting this Lucci now.” This reference to YFN Lucci, Reginae’s ex-boyfriend who was recently released from prison, immediately caught fans’ attention. The rest of the freestyle is largely incoherent, with Kodak’s shaky camerawork making the video even more difficult to watch.

A Pattern of Disrespect

This isn’t the first time Kodak Black has made inappropriate remarks about a high-profile woman. Back in 2019, shortly after the tragic passing of Nipsey Hussle, the rapper made an infamous comment about Lauren London, Hussle’s longtime partner.

“I’ll be the best man I can be for her,” Kodak said during an Instagram Live session. “I’ll give her a whole year. She might need a whole year to be crying and sht for him.”*

The comment sparked outrage across the hip-hop community. T.I. and radio host Big Boy were among those who publicly condemned Kodak. Big Boy refused to even post Kodak’s picture while addressing the controversy, writing:

“I’m not here for the blatant disrespect and fake ass apologies. To disrespect the King Nipsey and The Queen Lauren is where I draw the line.”

Will Kodak Black Ever Learn?

Despite backlash and multiple career setbacks, Kodak Black continues to find himself at the center of controversy. What was once seen as youthful arrogance has now become a recurring pattern of poor judgment. As he struggles to stay relevant in music, his questionable remarks and legal troubles seem to be overshadowing his talent.

With this latest freestyle, it’s clear that Kodak hasn’t learned from past mistakes. Whether the industry—and fans—continue to tolerate this behavior remains to be seen.
