Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” Holds No. 1 Spot for Second Consecutive Week

Kendrick Lamar and SZA continue to dominate the Billboard Hot 100 as their collaboration Luther holds the top spot for the second week in a row. According to Billboard, the GNX-produced single maintains its momentum, securing Kendrick his sixth No. 1 hit and SZA her third.

Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Effect

Kendrick’s presence at the Super Bowl halftime show on February 9 had already reignited interest in his catalog, sending Not Like Us back to No. 1 on the charts. However, it was Luther, another song he performed during the event, that ultimately dethroned him last week. Now, the track remains at the summit, proving its staying power.

The success of Luther further cements Kendrick and SZA’s standing as one of the most dynamic rapper-singer duos in the industry. Their seamless chemistry has been on display in previous collaborations like All the Stars and Doves in the Wind, but Luther has become one of their biggest joint hits to date.

The Grand National Tour Is Coming

Kendrick and SZA’s musical dominance will extend beyond the charts as they prepare to hit the road together for the Grand National Tour, which was announced last month. The arena tour kicks off on April 19 in Minneapolis, MN, and wraps up on June 18 in Landover, MD, covering major cities like Houston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Chicago.

The tour will also include special stops in Los Angeles, Kendrick’s hometown, and St. Louis, where SZA was born. Notably, they will also perform in Toronto, the hometown of Kendrick’s long-standing rap rival, Drake.

Could a Joint Album Be Next?

The success of Luther and the upcoming tour have sparked speculation about whether Kendrick and SZA might consider a full collaborative album. The idea gained traction after SZA appeared on The Sherri Shepherd Show last month, where the host praised the duo’s chemistry and asked if they would ever do a joint project.

“I would love that,” SZA said in response, drawing applause from the audience.

She elaborated, “He’s such a genius, and part of his genius is him being so elusive and so mysterious. I don’t know what’s going on as much as you don’t know what’s going on. When Luther came out, I said, ‘Okay, that’s the vocals we’re using.’ And same with Gloria.”

She also expressed how much she values Kendrick’s mentorship, calling him “Sensei” and explaining how she learns from his expertise.

While there’s no official word on a joint album, their time together on tour could provide the perfect opportunity for them to collaborate even further. Whether Luther is just the beginning of something bigger remains to be seen, but for now, Kendrick and SZA are firmly at the top of the game.
