JID Unveils New Album Preview in Unorthodox Wingstop Commercial

JID, the Atlanta-based rapper and Dreamville artist, has taken an unconventional approach to preview his highly anticipated new album, “Forever & A Day.” In a move that’s as unexpected as it is innovative, the rapper teamed up with Wingstop to narrate a commercial for the chain’s new chicken tenders, which aired on March 5.

In the ad, JID adds his signature touch, introducing the new product while also letting fans in on something much bigger—his upcoming album. The real kicker, however, came when JID revealed that the beat playing in the background of the commercial is from his next album. On Instagram, he thanked Wingstop for allowing him to curate the ad and shared, “Thank you to @wingstop for letting me curate this #ad with production from my next album.”

Adding a bit of humor to the situation, JID wrote in the comments, “Y’all really mad at me for loving wings plus the beat is from my album, THe ALBum lol come on man, y’all being stiff.” He continued to joke about the unique situation, quipping, “A n-gga leaking his album beats thru a wingstop commercial, come on we playing a different game.”

The reaction from fellow artists was swift and filled with admiration. Swavay, an Atlanta producer who seemingly worked on the track, couldn’t help but express his shock, commenting, “Ohhhhhhh you let this one go on a commercial???? You BRAZY.” Cozz, JID’s Dreamville labelmate, also joined in on the fun, joking, “Bouta be his most n-ggafied album yet.”

Earlier this week, JID fueled further excitement for his upcoming project when he confirmed that the album is complete. Speaking to i-D magazine during Paris Fashion Week, he shared, “It’s done. It’s turned in — it’s been turned in. It’s coming really fucking soon.” The rapper explained that the project has been years in the making and is now in its final stages. “It’s been a long time in the making and all the t’s are crossed and my i’s are dotted so I think we in a good position to build this new world that I’ve been working on for the past couple of years,” he said.

JID has also previously teased the album’s title, “Forever & A Day,” hinting that it will follow the thematic progression of his earlier works, The Never Story and The Forever Story. While fans have been eagerly awaiting the album’s release, they’ve also been intrigued by JID’s hints of a potential joint project with Metro Boomin, though that collaboration remains under wraps.

In a world where album teasers usually come in the form of cryptic social media posts or traditional singles, JID has shown that he’s willing to break the mold. By dropping beats from his forthcoming album in a Wingstop commercial, he’s certainly raised the bar for creative ways to drum up anticipation. Now, the question remains: will the rest of the album live up to the unexpected brilliance of its marketing? Fans are ready to find out, and based on JID’s latest moves, it seems that the wait will be well worth it.
