Cam’ron Fires Back at Jim Jones Over Dipset’s Verzuz Battle Dispute

The tension between Cam’ron and Jim Jones has escalated once again, with Cam firing back at Jones’ claims that he was “backdoored” during negotiations for Dipset’s Verzuz battle against The LOX in 2021.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday (March 2), the Harlem rap icon shut down Jim’s accusations by sharing an alleged text conversation between the two in the lead-up to the event. In the messages, Jones seemingly told Cam that he was willing to forgo payment for the Verzuz battle, calling it a “bucket list” moment that could lead to bigger opportunities.
“Really I just wanna touch [that] stage in a big way and if I have to take a loss to make a gain I’m willin to,” Jones allegedly wrote.
Cam’ron replied: “It’s not about the money for me bro. It’s about n-ggas keep getting more paper [off] us [than] we get [off] us.” He also took aim at Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, criticizing them for selling Verzuz to Triller in 2021 without properly compensating the artists involved.
In his Instagram caption, Cam mocked Jim for his claims, writing: “You wanted to do Verzuz for free n-gga. So if you made a dollar be happy. Talking bout it was on ya bucket list [eye-roll emoji]… stop tryna rewrite history.”
He went further, throwing a direct financial jab at Jones: “And ya n-ggas ain’t eating unless they came with they own bread. The boy @sugadugga_ent got more money than you. And let’s bet 10M’s on that.”
Jim Jones’ Original Claims on The Breakfast Club
Jim Jones first aired his frustrations about Dipset’s Verzuz battle during an interview on The Breakfast Club last week. He accused Cam’ron of conducting negotiations behind his back, saying:
“Swizz, holla at me. You backdoored me, gave that man some business that you ain’t give all of us.”
He further argued that the battle was a massive moment for Verzuz, which should have resulted in more lucrative business opportunities for everyone involved.
“We had that thing looking like a championship game,” Jim added. “You definitely got to give me triple, Swizz, and you got to give me some real business this time.”
Jones also claimed that when he confronted Swizz Beatz about the situation, Swizz admitted wrongdoing, allegedly saying, “I did bad.”
More Than Just Business – A Growing Rift
Beyond the Verzuz dispute, the relationship between Cam’ron and Jim Jones has been rocky for years, despite brief periods of reconciliation. In the same interview, Jones even challenged Cam to a $10 million boxing match, vowing to “box his head off.”
While fans would rather see the two Harlem legends reunite musically, this latest chapter in their ongoing feud suggests that their issues are far from resolved. Whether the war of words will stay online or spill into real-life action remains to be seen.
