Young Thug Announces First Live Show Since Jail Release

Young Thug is officially set to return to the stage after securing his release from jail. The rapper has been announced as a headliner for Les Ardentes Festival in Belgium on July 5, marking his first live performance since his arrest in 2022.
While the Atlanta rapper has yet to comment on the festival announcement, fans are eager to see Thugger back in action. Notably, he has no U.S. tour dates scheduled, despite the fact that his plea deal conditions require him to perform four charity concerts per year.
AEG Lawsuit May Be Keeping Thug Quiet
One potential reason for Young Thug’s silence since his release is his ongoing legal battle with Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG).
According to reports, AEG claims Thug signed a deal with them in 2017, securing a $5.25 million loan in exchange for exclusive rights to promote his concerts. However, the company alleges that Thug failed to repay the loan and, as a result, forfeited the copyrights to his publishing.
AEG initially sued the YSL leader in 2022, claiming he breached their contract by continuing to book shows independently, collecting hundreds of thousands in performance fees while allegedly disregarding AEG’s promotional rights.
AEG’s legal team, led by attorney Kathleen Jorrie, previously stated:
“Despite having granted AEG the exclusive right to promote Mr. Williams’ concert performances under the terms of the 2017 Artist Agreement, YSL and Mr. Williams immediately failed and refused to honor their respective obligations … by performing concerts without AEG’s involvement and retaining all proceeds generated therefrom.”
Thugger has yet to respond to the lawsuit, and it remains unclear whether it will impact his Belgium festival appearance or future bookings.
Ongoing Battle Over Seized Property
Aside from his dispute with AEG, Young Thug is still fighting the government over possessions confiscated during raids on his home. He is attempting to reclaim a number of luxury items, including:
- Cash and jewelry
- A 2021 Dodge Durango
- A 2022 Porsche 911
- A 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS Maybach
- A 2015 Can-Am Spyder
- A 2022 Chevrolet Corvette
With legal issues still looming, Thugger’s return to the stage will be closely watched—not just by fans but also by those involved in his legal affairs. Whether this festival appearance marks the start of a full-fledged comeback remains to be seen.
