Ty Dolla $ign Addresses Kanye West’s Controversies Amid Mounting Backlash

Ty Dolla $ign has finally broken his silence following a series of disturbing remarks made by his collaborator Kanye West, who has been embroiled in controversy for antisemitic statements, fat shaming, and condoning sexual assault.

Taking to his Instagram Story on Tuesday night (February 11), Ty shared a brief statement distancing himself from hate speech, though he refrained from directly addressing Ye’s actions.

“I do not condone ANY form of hate speech towards ANYBODY,” he wrote, punctuating his message with fist emojis of varying skin tones.

Ye’s Latest Scandal

Ty Dolla $ign’s statement came just hours after e-commerce giant Shopify shut down Kanye West’s website for selling a t-shirt emblazoned with a swastika. The shirt, named “HH-01” (presumed to stand for “Heil Hitler”), was listed on Ye’s store shortly after he aired an ad during the Super Bowl in select cities. While the website initially featured standard Yeezy merchandise, Ye wiped the store clean post-game and offered only the controversial item.

This latest stunt follows a pattern of inflammatory behavior from the rapper-producer. Just days prior, he had posted the phrase “Heil Hitler” on X (formerly Twitter), leading to a ban from the platform. His Instagram page remains active but has been completely scrubbed of content.

Ty Dolla $ign’s Continued Support for Kanye

Despite Ye’s history of erratic and offensive remarks, Ty Dolla $ign has remained steadfast in his support for his collaborator. In June 2024, he defended his decision to work with Kanye on their joint album Vultures, dismissing concerns about the rapper’s controversial reputation.

“Ye is the best artist of this generation, besides me, and I don’t give a fk about what people were talking about,” he told Billboard. “I know my n*a. He’s one of the best people I’ve ever met.”

He also downplayed the potential impact of Kanye’s controversies on their project’s success.

“Just with my analysis of how it goes with him, he goes all the way to the top,” Ty explained. “And something may happen and he’ll say [something people find offensive] — and then people [get] right back, you know. Because this sh*t is undeniable.”

The Fallout Continues

Kanye’s latest actions have cost him more than just an online storefront. His antisemitic remarks have led to widespread condemnation, including from former supporters. Travis Scott, who previously maintained a close relationship with Ye, unfollowed him on Instagram after his most recent tirade. Meanwhile, brands and platforms continue to distance themselves from the rapper’s increasingly radical rhetoric.

As the controversy unfolds, it remains to be seen whether Ty Dolla $ign will take a firmer stance against Kanye’s behavior or continue standing by him despite the backlash.
