SZA Drops Lana Deluxe Album Ahead of Super Bowl Halftime Performance with Kendrick Lamar

SZA has unveiled a deluxe version of her acclaimed album SOS, titled Lana, released on Sunday, February 9, just before her electrifying performance alongside Kendrick Lamar at the Super Bowl halftime show. This updated version of SOS includes four fresh tracks: “Joni,” featuring Don Toliver, “Take You Down,” “PSA,” and a solo rendition of “Open Arms,” which originally featured Travis Scott. These additions bring the album’s total to an impressive 42 songs.

The release of Lana was accompanied by a standout Super Bowl halftime show at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. SZA and Kendrick Lamar performed their collaborative hits “Luther” and “All the Stars,” captivating the audience. Kendrick, headlining the event, also delivered solo performances of fan favorites like “HUMBLE,” “TV Off,” and his widely discussed track “Not Like Us.”

The rollout of Lana had been teased by SZA’s manager, Terrence “Punch” Henderson, who confirmed its release on Super Bowl Sunday after delays. Earlier, SZA addressed criticism about the album’s rollout on social media, expressing her frustration with fan entitlement. “No more explanations/updates,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter), directing further inquiries to her manager. She also defended the delays, citing challenges such as sample clearances and wildfires affecting those involved in the album’s production.

The Super Bowl performance marked the beginning of an exciting chapter for SZA and Kendrick Lamar. Following their show-stopping appearance, the duo is set to embark on a joint arena tour across North America and Europe. Kicking off in Minneapolis on April 19, the tour will include stops in cities like Houston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Chicago before concluding in Landover, MD, on June 18. The European leg will begin in London on July 2, with additional performances in Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, and Barcelona.

SZA’s Lana and the accompanying Super Bowl performance have further solidified her position as one of the most dynamic and influential voices in music today. Fans can stream the deluxe album now and prepare for what promises to be a groundbreaking tour.
