Roots Picnic 2025: Star-Studded Lineup Announced with D’Angelo, GloRilla, Meek Mill & More
D’Angelo, GloRilla, and Meek Mill are set to headline the much-anticipated Roots Picnic 2025, promising a star-studded lineup for the annual two-day festival. Organized by the legendary Hip Hop band The Roots in their hometown of Philadelphia, this year’s edition will feature an impressive mix of R&B, Hip Hop, and soul acts.
Announced on February 17, the festival will see performances from some of the biggest names in the industry, including Tems, Latto, and Lenny Kravitz. The Roots will take center stage not only as the festival’s hosts but also as performers, celebrating the 30th anniversary of their major-label debut, Do You Want More?!!!??!. As part of this celebration, Black Thought will join forces with DJ J.Period for a special live mixtape set, featuring guest appearances from Pusha T and 2 Chainz.
The Roots Picnic has long been a staple in Philadelphia’s music scene, bringing together diverse talents for a unique blend of live music, culture, and community. Tickets for this year’s festival are already available, with fans eagerly anticipating an unforgettable weekend.
In addition to the Philadelphia event, The Roots recently announced the return of their Los Angeles edition, dubbed ‘A Roots Picnic Experience: Class of ’95.’ Scheduled for June 8, 2025, at the Hollywood Bowl, this event will showcase Hip Hop legends such as Lil Kim, Method Man & Redman, E-40, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Raekwon, DJ Quik, Goodie Mob, and Havoc of Mobb Deep. The Roots will once again serve as the headline act and backing band, ensuring a dynamic and nostalgic performance.
Reflecting on their journey, Questlove shared insights into the significance of 1995 for the group. “That was the Year It All Came Together,” he stated. “It was the year when our first major release, Do You Want More?!!!??!, was sent into the world. Hip Hop was an entirely new ballgame back then, and those were the days that produced classic album after classic album.”
