Playboi Carti Teases Long-Awaited Album I Am Music with Mysterious Billboards

Playboi Carti’s highly anticipated new album may finally be on the horizon, as billboards teasing its arrival have begun appearing in major cities across the U.S.
On February 17, fans spotted promotional billboards in Los Angeles and Miami hinting at the imminent release of I Am Music. The ads simply state, “Music Is Coming,” alongside the Spotify logo, leaving fans speculating about an official drop date.
Carti has been teasing the follow-up to his 2020 album Whole Lotta Red for years. Back in August, he reassured audiences at Germany’s Splash! Festival that the project was indeed on its way.
“I promise you the album is coming,” he declared before giving the crowd an exclusive preview of a new track.
Further fueling anticipation, producer Cardo revealed in a Billboard cover story that he and Carti have been developing a fresh sound for the album, dubbed “burnt music.” Having worked on Carti’s recent singles like “H00DBYAIR,” “EVILJ0RDAN,” and “BACKR00MS” featuring Travis Scott, Cardo described their experimental approach as a groundbreaking evolution in hip-hop production.
While reports suggested I Am Music was expected to drop before the end of 2024, fans have been left waiting. Carti even premiered several unreleased songs during Rolling Loud Miami in December, yet a concrete release date remains elusive.
The prolonged delay has led to frustration among fans, with some even launching an online petition demanding his removal from streaming platforms due to the constant postponements.
However, recent developments suggest that the wait might soon be over. Earlier this month, internet personality Kai Cenat directly called on Carti to release the album during a red carpet interview at the 2025 Grammy Awards. His passionate plea caught Carti’s attention, prompting the rapper to respond, “REALEST VIDEO I SEEN IN 2025… BX YAL GOT 1 WITH KAI. DIS VIDEO MIGHT BE DA ONE TO DO IT.”
With cryptic billboards now in place and industry figures urging him to drop the long-awaited project, it seems I Am Music may finally be arriving soon. Until an official announcement is made, fans can only hope that Playboi Carti delivers on his promise and ends the suspense once and for all.
