Joe Budden is making it clear that he has no interest in reigniting his long-standing feud with Drake. After the OVO rapper seemingly took shots at him on social media, Budden shut down any hopes of a back-and-forth, declaring that the beef is no longer worth his time.
Drake recently posted a video on his Finsta account showing Budden stepping out of a car while smoking a cigarette, with Lil Wayne’s “Let It All Work Out” playing in the background. The caption read, “$$$HITTING MEEEEEE,” a cryptic message that seemed to mock Budden.
Not one to stay silent, the former rapper-turned-podcaster clapped back on The Joe Budden Podcast.
“Drake, don’t shoot at me now that you ice cold,” Budden fired. “I’m not doing a back and forth with a corpse. I wanted to do it when you was lit. It was fun. Don’t go get shot all through the year and then pop up like Bernie at Weekend at Bernie’s wanting to shoot at me now. No.”
He continued: “99 n*as done jumped on your ass. You out smoking hookah in turquoise boots. Don’t post me. Go get your fking lick back. Fking bch.”
A History of Tension
Joe Budden and Drake’s relationship has been turbulent for years, filled with diss tracks and online jabs. The rift resurfaced in 2023 when Budden criticized For All the Dogs, accusing Drake of “rapping for the children” and dating “25-year-olds.”
Drake retaliated by dismissing Budden’s rap career and belittling his financial status.
“You switched careers cause the things that pop into your brain had you broke living cheque to cheque,” Drake wrote in a scathing Instagram comment. “The raps you write had 450 men showing up to your shows in dusty Enyce jeans to screw up their face to Mood Muzik 29 and pretend you are the GOAT.”
He added: “I own a 767… he owns a modest house in the 973 and flies first class on special occasions.”
Despite the jabs, Budden later clarified that his criticism of Drake comes from a place of respect. In a conversation with Lupe Fiasco on X Spaces last year, Budden admitted:
“I don’t hate Drake. It’s from love.”
Moving Forward or More to Come?
While Budden insists he’s done engaging with Drake, the Canadian superstar has never been one to let things slide. Whether this latest exchange is the end of their long-running feud or just another chapter remains to be seen.
