SZA Expresses Interest in Collaborative Album with Kendrick Lamar

SZA recently made her feelings clear about the possibility of a joint album with Kendrick Lamar, and it seems she’s all for it. During an appearance on Sherri Shepherd’s talk show Sherri on January 8, the host praised the chemistry between SZA and Kendrick, noting that their collaborations have been the result of pairing “a genius with a genius.”

When Shepherd asked if the two would consider making a full album together, SZA responded enthusiastically, saying, “I would love that,” followed by audience applause. She went on to describe Kendrick Lamar as “such a genius,” emphasizing how his mysterious and elusive nature adds to his brilliance. SZA revealed that during their collaborations, like on the tracks “Luther” and “Gloria,” she has trusted Kendrick’s expertise, allowing him to guide her through what she called her “fumbling and finding” era.

She continued, “He’s so good at saying yes and staying grounded, so I’m just like, ‘Teach me, Sensei, what you know.’” This statement reflects the deep admiration and respect she has for Kendrick, who she views as a mentor in their creative process.

SZA and Kendrick are also preparing to hit the road together soon for their Grand National Tour, set to start on April 19 in Minneapolis, MN, and wrap up on June 18 in Landover, MD. The tour will make stops in major cities like Houston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Chicago, and will include a special performance in Los Angeles, Kendrick’s hometown, as well as St. Louis, SZA’s birthplace. The tour will also pass through Toronto, the hometown of Kendrick’s rival, Drake.

In the midst of this excitement, SZA has been hinting at a different direction for her future. She posted on January 4 that her next two albums would take a peaceful turn, with a focus on children’s music before transitioning to a completely different career. SZA expressed her intention to eventually leave music behind and become a farmer, donating produce to underserved communities.

While her future plans remain uncertain, one thing is clear: SZA’s journey in the music industry has been marked by constant evolution, and her creative partnership with Kendrick Lamar could represent a groundbreaking chapter. Fans eagerly await the possibility of a collaborative album, as the two continue to push boundaries with their music. Whether or not they decide to make that joint album, SZA’s openness to new creative ventures and her evolving artistic direction are sure to captivate her audience for years to come.
