Nicki Minaj Faces Potential Criminal Charges Following Assault Allegations

Nicki Minaj may face criminal charges after being accused of assaulting her former manager, Brandon Garrett. According to a report from TMZ, Detroit police have requested a warrant from the prosecutor’s office to determine whether Minaj can be arrested and charged over the alleged incident.

The Incident

Garrett, who recently filed a lawsuit, alleges that the altercation occurred in April 2023 during Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 tour in Detroit. He claims the rapper became enraged after discovering he had sent someone else to collect her prescription.

According to the lawsuit, Minaj allegedly struck Garrett in the face with an open palm and hit his wrist, causing him to drop various documents. The blow to the face reportedly caused his head to “swing backwards,” while his wrist was left “throbbing.”

The verbal altercation was equally intense, with Minaj allegedly shouting:
“Are you f—ing crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your f—ing mind, and if my husband were here he would knock out your f—ing teeth. You’re a dead man walking. You just f—ed up your whole life, and you will never be anyone, I’ll make sure of it.”

Emotional Distress and Legal Fallout

Garrett claims the incident left him fearing for his safety, prompting him to lock himself in a bathroom for several hours. He says he was later stranded in Detroit and informed he would no longer be working for Minaj.

The former manager filed a police report after leaving the city and is suing Minaj for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. He is seeking unspecified damages in the lawsuit.

Minaj Denies Allegations

Through her lawyer, Nicki Minaj has denied the accusations and claimed that Garrett was never her manager. Her attorney, Judd Burstein, issued a statement saying:
“At this time, no complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty [Minaj’s legal married name], and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations. However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that the matter brought by this ex-assistant will be resolved swiftly in Mrs. Petty’s favor.”

What’s Next?

Detroit prosecutors are now reviewing the warrant request to decide if Minaj will face criminal charges. In the meantime, the lawsuit has added to the rapper’s legal troubles, with Garrett accusing her of causing emotional distress and professional harm.

As the case unfolds, fans and critics are closely watching for updates. Whether Nicki Minaj will fight these allegations in court or the matter will be dismissed remains to be seen.
