Kodak Black Predicts a “Hate Train” and Compares Himself to Drake Amid Hip Hop Drama
Kodak Black has voiced his concerns about what he perceives as a growing “hate train” against him, likening his situation to the backlash Drake faced during his feud with Kendrick Lamar. Addressing his critics on Instagram Live, the Florida rapper expressed his thoughts on the negativity surrounding him in the music industry.
“One day these n-ggas gon’ try to do me like Drake,” Kodak declared. “Like they did Drake. Whole little hate Kodak campaign. Everybody who hate Kodak to the left. You see these n-ggas campaigning and sh*t.”
Despite his concerns, Kodak reassured his fans that he’s unbothered by the criticism. “But it’s love,” he added. “They show like, I’m impressive. I’m a great friend to have and I ain’t friendly.”
Kodak Black’s History With Drake
Kodak’s commentary comes after a publicized fallout with Drake, despite their previously close relationship. Back in December, Kodak criticized Drake for not putting in enough effort to collaborate with him, lamenting that Kendrick Lamar managed to work with him first.
“I’m Drake’s favorite rapper. He always says that,” Kodak said in a video, adding, “It don’t make no sense how Kendrick Lamar beat you to it.” Kodak had a prominent presence on Kendrick’s Grammy-winning album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers in 2022, making multiple appearances on the project.
A Gift of Bitcoin and Cooling Relations
Kodak has spoken highly of Drake in the past, sharing that the Canadian rapper once gifted him $600,000 in Bitcoin. During an interview with MONTREALITY, he revealed: “That boy Aubrey! That’s my dog. Drake sent me like 600 bands in Bitcoin. Drake dropped that sh*t on me. He said I’m his favorite rapper. I love that n-gga.”
However, their relationship appeared to cool off after Drake released the collaborative album Her Loss with 21 Savage. Kodak revealed that the album’s release made him hesitant to work with Drake on a joint project they had previously planned.
“I had told Drake I ain’t wanna do no collab actually,” Kodak said on Instagram Live. “No songs or no album, ’cause we supposed to been did a whole album together before him and lil buddy did that sh*t.” He added that he wanted to wait until 2023 to revisit the idea.
Unreleased Music and Unfulfilled Plans
Despite teasing a collaborative album with Drake and reportedly recording numerous tracks together, the two have yet to release any music. Kodak’s disappointment stems from his belief that their potential project would have been groundbreaking.
Kodak’s Perspective on the Industry
Kodak Black’s recent comments underscore his feelings about the unpredictability of the music industry. While he recognizes the criticism directed his way, he remains confident in his talent and his ability to weather the storm.
Whether or not his predictions of a “hate train” come true, Kodak’s influence on Hip Hop remains undeniable, as he continues to carve his own path amid both support and scrutiny.
