Kanye West Shows Love to Jack Harlow’s New Single “Tranquility”
Kanye West’s recent return to social media has sparked attention for more than just his ongoing feuds with brands like adidas and figures like Jerry Lorenzo. On January 10, the Chicago native took to Instagram to show love to fellow rapper Jack Harlow, whom he previously labeled as one of the “top five” artists in the game.
Kanye reshared Jack Harlow’s latest track, “Tranquility,” a single that dropped in late December and recently landed on streaming platforms. The song showcases a more introspective side of the Louisville rapper, as he steps away from his previous catchy, mainstream tracks like “Lovin On Me” and “Hello Miss Johnson.” Instead, Harlow delivers a more serious flow over a minimalistic, skeletal beat.
In the track, Harlow spits bars with confidence: “Y’all boys lame shit killing me / Need to be reintroduced to humility / I ain’t lookin for no Hip Hop credibility / Give a fuck who feelin me, I’m feelin me.” He also teases his upcoming album, hinting at a shift in his artistic approach: “Last project I was giving you conceptual / Next project I’ll be giving you exceptional.”
Kanye’s endorsement is not the only sign of praise for Harlow’s work. The song has received positive feedback from other hip-hop figures, including Ludacris, Boi-1da, Ferg (f.k.a. A$AP Ferg), CyHi The Prynce, and Gillie Da Kid, who all took to Jack’s Instagram page to express their appreciation.
This isn’t the first time Kanye has publicly praised Jack Harlow. Back in 2022, after Harlow’s “Nail Tech” dropped, Ye posted on social media: “This n-gga can raaaaaaap bro And I’m saying n-gga as a compliment. Top 5 out right now.” Jack, who has cited Kanye as one of his biggest inspirations, was moved by the praise and responded, “This right here…is one of the greatest moments of my entire life. Glad y’all all get front row seats to it…suddenly all the hate means nothing…imagine your hero saying this about you…I could cry.”
The two artists later collaborated on the track “Louie Bags” from Kanye’s Donda 2 album, which was released exclusively on his Stem Player. The project, however, was largely unfinished and received mixed reviews.
Currently, Kanye is working on his next solo album Bully, which is expected to drop sometime this year. The album will follow his two collaborative Vultures projects with Ty Dolla $ign, although it remains unclear whether a third installment is in the works.
As Kanye continues to evolve in both his music and social media presence, his ongoing support for Jack Harlow showcases the camaraderie that exists between two of hip-hop’s most influential artists.
