Young Thug Jokes About Probation During Lawyer’s Interview Appearance
Young Thug made a surprise appearance during an interview with his lawyer, Keith Adams, offering a lighthearted moment as he joked about his probation status. Adams, who represented the rapper in his high-profile RICO case, was speaking on TheFitLawyerATL YouTube channel when he received a FaceTime call from the Atlanta star.
Adams held up his phone to the camera, showing a cheerful Young Thug, who flashed a peace sign to viewers. After the host congratulated the rapper on his recent release and wished him well during his probation, Thugger quipped: “Get me off the probation.”
The rapper, whose real name is Jeffery Williams, also took a moment to thank his fans, saying their support had been instrumental in keeping him motivated throughout his legal battle. Thug was released from jail on October 31, 2024, after accepting a plea deal, which included time served and 15 years of probation.
Young Thug Reflects on His Plea Deal
During the same interview, Adams disclosed that Young Thug had mixed feelings about his decision to accept the plea deal. Reflecting on the recent acquittal of two co-defendants, Yak Gotti and Shannon Stillwell, Adams shared that Thug expressed happiness for their verdicts but also some regret.
“He was happy for [Gotti] and Stillwell. Very happy,” Adams said. “But there was a part of him thinking, We probably should have gone all the way because we could’ve gotten a not-guilty verdict too.”
Adams acknowledged the sentiment, saying he believed they could have won the case, but noted that Thug ultimately made the decision to accept the plea deal to secure his immediate release.
Strict Conditions of Probation
Thug’s 15-year probation comes with several conditions. He is banned from the Metro Atlanta area for 10 years, cannot make gang references in his music, and is prohibited from contacting most of his co-defendants. Exceptions include his brother, Quantavious “Unfoonk” Grier, and fellow rapper Gunna.
Additionally, Thug is required to complete 100 hours of community service annually, deliver anti-gang and anti-violence presentations in schools, and submit to random drug tests. If he violates any of these terms, he faces 20 years of backloaded prison time.
Despite these challenges, Adams assured fans that Young Thug is adapting well to life after incarceration, saying, “He’s happy to be home. He’s out in L.A., doing just fine, and he’s gonna be doing just fine.”
A New Chapter for Young Thug
The rapper’s unexpected call and playful attitude during the interview underscore his determination to move forward despite the challenges of his probation. Fans continue to show their support for Young Thug as he navigates this next chapter in his life and career.
