Cardi B to Debut New Music Live at Global Citizen Festival

Cardi B will give fans an early live preview of her upcoming album AM I THE DRAMA? at this weekend’s Global Citizen Festival in New York City. The announcement comes after The Weeknd, originally scheduled to perform, withdrew due to personal reasons. He shared the update on Instagram, thanking fans for their support and encouraging them to continue supporting the festival’s mission.

Shakira had been set to co-headline, with Tyla, Ayra Starr, Mariah the Scientist, and other artists also on the lineup. Organizers confirmed Cardi B as The Weeknd’s replacement, highlighting her high-energy performance style. Their Instagram post reads, “She’s bringing the DRAMA to #GlobalCitizenFestival. This weekend, the one and only @iamcardib comes home to New York City to take the Central Park stage!”

Hugh Evans, CEO of Global Citizen, expressed gratitude for her joining the festival. He called Cardi B “an outstanding performer who will light up Central Park in spectacular fashion” and sent well wishes to The Weeknd.

Cardi B shared her excitement ahead of the performance. “Central Park, I’m coming for you!!! I can’t wait to be home in New York, and to bring my new songs and all the DRAMA to the Global Citizen Festival,” she said. She added that the festival is unique because it focuses on global issues, including helping children worldwide, and she is proud to support the cause.

Fans will get a glimpse of Cardi B’s Little Miss Drama Tour, which kicks off February 11 in North America and runs through April 17 in Atlanta. This will be her first headlining tour, and the Global Citizen Festival performance offers a preview of what to expect when she hits the road next year.
