Pusha T Fires Back at Drake Amid Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Legal Battle
Pusha T has once again reignited his ongoing feud with Drake, this time in response to Drake’s legal action against Universal Music Group (UMG) over Kendrick Lamar’s controversial track “Not Like Us.” During a recent interview at Miami Art Week with Ari Melber, Pusha discussed Kendrick’s fiery diss track “Euphoria,” which references his own past beef with Drake.
In the interview, Pusha explained Kendrick’s apparent message to Drake, saying, “I guess he was just telling him he needed to address me before he comes back and tries to go at him.” Pusha went on to praise Kendrick’s lyrical prowess, noting that the Compton rapper’s delivery is not just clever but deeply impactful. “I think that Kendrick is a lyricist and a lyricist that talks to your soul,” he said. “You can be clever, you can say cute things, you can do things in cadences and so on and so forth, but the truth really hurts and the truth cuts deep.”
Pusha then alluded to Drake’s legal action against UMG, implying that Kendrick’s lyrical blows might have contributed to the Canadian rapper’s decision to sue. “I believe that would cause you to tap out, that would cause you to sue, that would cause you to do a lot of things. It’s crazy,” Pusha remarked, emphasizing the emotional toll Kendrick’s diss might have had on Drake.
In Kendrick’s “Euphoria,” which also targets Drake’s ongoing feud with Pusha, the line “Yeah, f**k all that pushin’ P, let me see you push a T” stands out. It directly references the infamous battle between Pusha T and Drake, which many fans and critics believe Pusha won, particularly after his hard-hitting track “The Story of Adidon,” where he exposed Drake’s secret child. Kendrick also delivers a jab at Pharrell, a key figure in Pusha’s camp, with the lyric, “I don’t like you poppin’ shit at Pharrell, for him, I inherit the beef.”
Pusha, who has been vocal about his admiration for Kendrick’s lyrical abilities, previously shared his thoughts on the track in an interview with Vulture, calling it an “incredible display of battle raps.” In the Miami Art Week interview, Pusha echoed his respect for Kendrick’s skills but made it clear that Drake would need to address the deeper truths in the lyrics before he could truly move forward from their ongoing feud.
Pusha T’s remarks are just the latest chapter in a long-standing rivalry that continues to captivate hip-hop fans worldwide. With Drake’s legal battle with UMG ongoing and Kendrick Lamar still delivering sharp diss lines, it seems the tensions in the rap world are far from cooling down. As 2025 approaches, it’s clear that the war of words between these iconic rappers will continue to shape the narrative of hip-hop’s fiercest battles.
