Drake Fires Back at Kendrick Lamar Following GNX Release

Drake wasted no time reigniting his feud with Kendrick Lamar after the release of Kendrick’s latest album, GNX. During a livestream with Canadian streamer xQc this past weekend, Drake made a pointed comment that seemed to address accusations Kendrick has hinted at in his diss tracks.

“I’m here — mind, body, and soul fully intact, in case you were wondering. You need facts to take me out; fairytales won’t do it,” Drake said, setting the tone for his defiant stance.

This remark appears to respond to Kendrick’s past lyrical jabs, which have alleged Drake’s involvement in questionable behavior, including accusations about secretive relationships and controversial associations.

Kendrick’s Subtle Shots on GNX

While Kendrick Lamar did not directly name Drake on GNX, he alluded to their long-standing tension. On the album’s opening track, “wacced out murals,” Kendrick rapped:

“N-ggas from my city couldn’t entertain old boy /
Promisin’ bank transactions and even bitcoin /
I never peaced it up, that shit don’t sit well with me /
Before I take a truce, I’ll take ’em to Hell with me.”

Kendrick also addressed Drake’s infamous “Taylor Made Freestyle” diss and Snoop Dogg’s apparent endorsement of it, rapping:

“Snoop posted ‘Taylor Made,’ I prayed it was the edibles /
I couldn’t believe it, it was only right for me to let it go.”

In a lighthearted response, Snoop Dogg acknowledged the line on X (formerly Twitter), joking: “K dot new album GNX 🔥 It was the edibles 🤦😆✊ west west king.”

Drake’s Livestream Shenanigans

Drake didn’t limit his comments to Kendrick during his appearance on xQc’s livestream. When the streamer played The Weeknd’s 2016 hit “Starboy,” Drake immediately objected. “You’ve gotta switch this song, though. You have to switch this one. We’re the real Sixers, the real 6ix side. We don’t listen to that,” he said, reigniting tensions with The Weeknd.

The fallout between Drake and The Weeknd has simmered for years, with barbs traded on tracks like Drake’s “Push Ups” and “Family Matters” and The Weeknd’s contributions to Future and Metro Boomin’s We Still Don’t Trust You.

Fans React to the Drama

Fans of both artists have taken to social media to discuss the latest developments, with opinions divided over who holds the upper hand in this ongoing beef. Kendrick’s GNX has been praised for its sharp lyricism, while Drake’s casual dismissals on the livestream have bolstered his reputation for being unfazed.

As the drama unfolds, it’s clear neither artist is ready to back down. Whether through cryptic verses or bold statements, the rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar remains one of hip-hop’s most compelling storylines.
