Doja Cat Teases New Album with Mysterious Song Titles

Doja Cat is at it again, keeping fans on their toes with an exciting yet cryptic social media post. Following the success of her album Scarlet, which marked a bold, introspective chapter in her career, the singer and rapper is already hinting at what’s next. On November 11, 2024, Doja took to Instagram to share a list of unnumbered and seemingly unrelated song titles, sparking speculation that she’s preparing to release a new album.

The titles shared in her Instagram Story included: “Crack,” “Break My Heart,” “Cards,” “Acts of Service,” “Turn the Lights,” and “Make It Up,” among others. In total, there were 13 titles, a number that suggests she’s working on a full-length project. Fans were initially confused by the randomness of the list, as none of the titles matched any songs she’s released so far. It quickly dawned on them, however, that Doja was offering a sneak peek of what’s to come in her next musical venture.

Other intriguing titles on the list include “Take Me Dancing,” “Ain’t News,” “Anything,” “Appreciation,” “Wood Hally,” “Slow Burn,” and “Did I Lie.” While Doja Cat did not offer any additional context or explanations for the titles, the post comes just two weeks after she tweeted a single word on October 24: “Album.” Fans quickly connected the dots, realizing that these song titles are likely a glimpse into the upcoming project.

This marks a different approach to album promotion compared to her previous release. Scarlet was created during a period where Doja felt she was in an “angry place” and wanted the music to speak for itself. As a result, she kept promotion minimal, focusing on letting the songs stand on their own. She explained this decision in a rare interview with Present Space, describing Scarlet as her “Why I oughta!” moment, where she defended herself and reminded the world that her music was for her, not just for the enjoyment of others.

Despite Scarlet being a critical success, Doja Cat’s album was snubbed at the 2025 Grammy Awards, failing to be recognized in any major categories, despite her previous success with the institution. However, the rapper had some good news to share just a few days prior. On November 9, 2024, Doja Cat surpassed both Cardi B and Nicki Minaj to become the most platinum-certified female rapper in Billboard history. With 13 platinum-certified releases, including her most recent single, “Rules,” Doja continues to break records and set new benchmarks in the industry.

As Doja Cat teases her next album, fans can expect yet another evolution in her sound and artistry. With her history of surprises and genre-blending music, it’s clear that she’s not slowing down anytime soon.
