Doechii’s star has exponentially risen in 2025 after years of hard work, and the results are tangible as she now holds the title of the most monthly Spotify listeners among all female rappers. The streaming giant released a graphic on April 1, confirming the Florida-born artist’s dominance with just under 60 million monthly listeners.
Following closely behind Doechii in the rankings are Doja Cat with 56.5 million, Nicki Minaj with 45.1 million, Cardi B with 28 million, and Megan Thee Stallion with 26.4 million, rounding out the top five. This milestone solidifies Doechii’s place at the pinnacle of female rap and underscores her widespread appeal across diverse audiences.
As her fame continues to skyrocket, Doechii has faced accusations of being an “industry plant.” However, she took the opportunity to address these claims head-on while accepting the 2025 Woman of the Year honor at Billboard’s Women in Music event on March 29. The Grammy Award-winning artist reminded detractors of the dedication and relentless effort she has invested in her craft over the years.
“I cannot believe it was just two years ago I stood on this stage and accepted the Billboard Rising Star Award,” Doechii said. “I had literally performed so hard I danced my shoes off and had to hop up to the mic. And here I am. That moment reflects how I approach my career – always go full out, always go hard, and always be fab.”
She continued, delivering an empowering message about the role of women in the music industry: “We are the creatives, we are the executives, and we are the innovators who are just as central to this industry as the men. Clock it! And I want everybody to hear me clearly when I say that it is not a button, it is our brains. It is not a machine, it is our leadership. It is not a conspiracy, it is our vulnerability. And it is not an agenda, it’s God!”
Among those singing Doechii’s praises is Tyler, The Creator, who expressed his admiration for her talent in a recent interview with Nardwuar. Tyler recounted his first encounter with her music through YouTube recommendations, citing tracks like “Catfish” and “Nissan Altima” as the initial spark of his fandom.
“Genius, love her. That girl’s an alien. She’s an alien,” Tyler enthused. “I came across Doechii on something that YouTube recommended. It was the ‘Catfish’ record or ‘Nissan Altima.’ I was like, ‘What is this? Damn, this girl pretty as hell.’ And I clicked it and I was blown away and I just kept going and kept going and kept going.”
He added, “I was like ‘Oh my God!’ and then I DM’d her and I was like, ‘N-gga, I’m gonna need you in a few months!’ And then we linked and yeah, she’s incredible. I’m so happy that she [won a Grammy] and she’s in folks’ faces and we have to just keep supporting artists who care about things.”
With her talent, work ethic, and growing industry recognition, Doechii has proven that her success is no fluke. Her historic rise in 2025 signals a new era in female rap, where perseverance and authenticity continue to break barriers.
