Jay-Z & Beyoncé, Bobby Shmurda Among Those Who Attended DMX’s Brooklyn Memorial Service

Jay-Z & Beyoncé, Bobby Shmurda Among Those Who Attended DMX’s Brooklyn Memorial Service! News of DMX’s death shook the hip-hop community and fans alike were devastated after DMX’s passing was confirmed. The rap heavyweight passed on one week after suffering a heart attack, losing the fight for his life in hospital. Since X’s passing, ad hoc memorials and tributes have been held all across the country to pay homage to the beloved New York emcee.

The memorial service was announced last week and took place at the Barclays Center on Saturday (April 24), exclusive to DMX’s friends and family. A testament to his true celebrity power, attendees at DMX’s Celebration of Life Memorial service featured big names like Jay-Z & Beyoncé, Busta Rhymes and Bobby Shmurda.

Made very clear from the onset prior to the celebration, the in-person event at the multi-purpose arena in Brooklyn was limited to just DMX’s family and close friends. The ceremony commenced with Kanye’s Sunday Service choir, followed by speeches from family, including his 15 children, and his friends.

Rumor has it that Swizz Beatz had made contact with Ye before the service to ensure he doesn’t fail to attend the ceremony. Kanye and X have previously linked up and were well-acquainted with each other, which is why the choir director was tapped to participate. “Our father is a king,” one of DMX’s sons, Xavier, said in remembrance of his father at the memorial service. “Our father is an icon.” Hip hop’s power couple Jay-Z & Beyoncé were among the guests at the occasion, spotted in all-black attire.

Other artists in attendance included Bobby Shmurda and Busta Rhymes, who were spotted giving each other a warm embrace and chat soon after the memorial. According to an organizer for the event, Fabolous, A$AP Ferg, and Rowdy Rebel were also present at the service.
