Steve Lacy Confirms New Album ‘Oh Yeah?’ Is Coming Soon

Fans have been waiting for Steve Lacy’s third studio album since he released Gemini Rights in 2022. In May, he told followers on Instagram that they would have to appreciate his previous work more before hearing new music. “I aint dropping another album till yall go appreciate [Gemini Rights] like yall needed to,” he wrote at the time.
Now, the wait appears to be nearly over. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Lacy confirmed that the new album is titled Oh Yeah? and is set for release in the near future. While he did not share an exact date, he emphasized that the project has been carefully crafted. “This one has taken a lot of time and thought,” he said. “I keep using the word ‘design.’ It feels like fully designing a new language for myself.”
Lacy admitted that the creative process came with challenges. “I got humbled a couple times. So now I’m like, ‘stop trying to sequence the f**king music and just write the songs.’”
The Rolling Stone interview also touched on Drake’s comments about him during a livestream with xQc in November 2024. Drake had called Lacy a “fragile opp” while still praising his music. Lacy said he was not offended and actually enjoyed the remark. “I thought it was so awesome. I love Drake. I grew up listening to Drake… I was like, ‘This is so beautiful.’ I didn’t know what it meant. No one knew what it meant. And then Fousheé sent me a link and it was the video and I was like, ‘Whoa.’ I was so excited… I f*cked with it. It was cool.”
With Oh Yeah?, Steve Lacy promises a project shaped by patience, experimentation, and personal growth. Fans can expect a fresh sound that reflects his evolving artistry, even if the exact release date remains under wraps.
