The Police officer added that formal identification of the suspect was still underway pending completion of the booking process at LAPD’s Pacific Station late Monday afternoon.
This is not the first time the rapper touches base with law enforcement agencies. In 2020 he was sued by a jewelry store, Fashion Nova, and his management company, while in 2019 he was apparently targeted in a shooting at a West Hollywood Studio, and a 2018 case in which he found himself hospitalized after an armed home invasion.
The 28-year-old artist, whose real name is Dimitri Leslie Roger, grew up in New York until his teenage before later moving to Atlanta. In the course of his career, the rapper boasts collaborations with top Atlanta rap artists including Offset, Gucci Mane, Jeezy, 21 Savage and Migos. In late January, Rich The Kid dropped a seven track EP (makes sense) titled Lucky 7 enjoying assists from DaBaby, SipTee, Rubi Rose and Lil Mosey.
Prior to that, he teamed up with YoungBoy Never Broke Again on a collaboration album, Nobody Safe, having also been recruited in Lil Wayne’s No Ceilings 3 in December.
Last week saw the rapper post an Instagram photo of himself posing with Lil Wayne who
pleaded guilty in December to a federal guns charge related to a gold-plated Remington pistol found during a search of his private jet at the Opa-locka Executive Airport, Miami in 2019. Wayne was later pardoned by former President Donald Trump on his last day in office.
