Iggy Azalea Renews Claims Of Payola In Music Industry, Backs New Report

Iggy Azalea Renews Claims Of Payola In Music Industry, Backs New Report! Iggy Azalea has yet again furthered her earlier concerns that payola is common in the music industry, with a strong emphasis on streaming services. Having raised these concerns in the past the hit maker now feels justified by a recent exposé published by Rolling Stone. The outlet has published numerous articles about the alleged “pay-for-play” scandals that continue happening in the music industry despite there being rules and regulations in place to prevent that from happening.

On that note, Rolling Stone has reportedly claimed that payola is still alive and well. The publication has even gone further and dropped some names of artists and labels that have been beneficiaries of pay-to-play on radio stations and streaming services such as Spotify. The publication notably mentions G-Eazy among the alleged artists who work with teams that have sought to artificially boost the performance of their songs.

The Australian rapper came under fire some time ago for claiming that streaming platforms were inflating numbers. “Y’all act like it’s not a thing. It is a thing & it’s not even being monitored yet the way radio payola is at least policed,” the rapper said via a previous tweet. After the latest report by Rollling Stone caught her attention, the rapper felt justified and came back with a few more thoughts.

While re-tweeting Rolling Stone‘s link to an article, Iggy continued, “Remember when the internet said I was making up that streaming has payola worse than radio. [upside down smiley face emoji],” she wrote. “Glad someone’s starting to expose the secret world of streaming and ‘curators’ it’s time.” Be sure to catch up on some of her posts regarding payola in the past as well as her most recent tweets below.
