Eminem’s ‘Curtain Call’ Makes History As First Hip-Hop Record To Spend Full Decade On Billboard 200
Eminem’s ‘Curtain Call’ Makes History As First Hip-Hop Record To Spend Full Decade On Billboard 200! Eminem’s catalog is so rich that it’s almost impossible to sum up his legacy into a single greatest hits album. However, Curtain Call, which he originally released in December 2005, has done a perfect job in summing up the biggest moments of Eminem’s first 6 years in the game. The project has been a consistent mainstay in the Billboard Charts, having spent a total of 520 weeks in the Top 200.
Based on a new report by Forbes, Eminem’s Curtain Call has officially spent an entire decade on the Billboard charts, a milestone that locks it in as the 6th-longest-running album (though it tied for 5th) in Billboard history and the highest in the hip-hop history. Tied with Eminem is Guns N Roses’ Greatest Hits with 520 weeks, and right ahead are Metallica’s Metalica project with 598 weeks, Journey’s Greatest Hits with 659 weeks, Bob Marley and The Wailers’ Legend with 669 weeks, and Pink Floyd’s timeless classic Dark Side Of The Moon with a staggering 958 weeks.
The explicit 17-track project features Eminem’s biggest hits at the time, including classics like “Lose Yourself,” “My Name Is,” “The Real Slim Shady,” “Stan” and two previously-unreleased cuts “When I’m Gone” and “Shake That.” Curtain Call was the Eminem’s last release prior to taking a 4-year brek, after which he followed it up with Relapse that turned out to become the best-selling hip-hop album of 2009.
Many have been left to wonder the extent to which Eminem’s first Greatest Hits record can actually go, a proof of his universal appeal and longevity in the industry. And with the project currently having been certified seven-times platinum, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see Eminem pull yet another second Best-Of, given numerous hits he released in the latter half of his career.
Congratulations are in order to Eminem for another dominant milestone.
