Drake’s “What’s Next” Already Certified Gold! It’s clear Drake is a Hip Hop powerhouse going by the way he is breaking a Billboard chart record every week . After taking over Billboards’s Hot 100 top 3, the Billboard reported that the Toronto mogul is the only artist to appear on their Artist 100 chart every week since its 2014 launch. Following the release of his recent Scary Hours 2 project last week, Drake’s lead single “What’s Next” has proven to be a runaway hit. Not only does it lead the pack after earning its throne in the No. 1 spot but it has already secured Drake another gold certification in addition to his massive collection.
On that not, the news shouldn’t at all come as a surprise amid some criticism from a few people raising concerns about the manner in which Drake has achieved his latest milestone. Charlamagne The God has come out, taking aim at Drake by alleging that the Canadian rapper “cheated.” He argues that “streaming and radio manipulate the game in ways we’ve never seen.” Nevertheless, it’s impressive to see how rapidly “What’s Next” managed to sell five hundred thousand album-equivalent units. At this rate, we can only anticipate that the remainder of Scary Hours 2 tracks will soon follow suit and hit gold status. 
That said, should Drake make a decision to include “What’s Next” on Certified Lover Boy just like he previously included “God’s Plan” on Scorpion, his much anticipated upcoming album will be dropping with a pre-established advantage. That is not to say, he really needs it or that he’s desperate in any way, given the fact that he has already proven himself to be a commercial juggernaut to this day.
